Horrible service. Terrible communication. Seems intentionally set up to keep customers from being able to file claims.
I will not ever buy a protection plan through this company again. Their communication is terrible. Their website is intentionally difficult to navigate with many areas not accessible from the main page. They provide very little contact information -- an email address (which they take their time to respond with) and a mailing address. I went back and forth with these folks trying to file a claim for months, and by the time we finally got somewhere (after much follow-up and documentation of communication on my end) all they said was that they could look at it but it might just get shipped back to me. Terrible customer service. Very unknowledgeable staff (my dad and best friend both do IT, and I know a few things about computers myself). No one seems to be able to keep track of your account information or previous inquiries. Do not purchase a plan through them if you want your sanity to stay intact.

Warrantech is decent, but their 3rd party service centers are horrible unless it is a total failure of hardware.
I had to file a claim for an MSI gaming laptop. The issue was the video card going out. It was not completely out, but showing indicators that is was going to eventually. Claim process went ok. The service center they had me send it to though is awful. They refuse to replace the card without being able to reproduce the issue. They sent a box that was smaller than the advertised dimensions. After that they sent out another, but first I had to argue over the first box. After that they have had it for a month now. They claim they were not seeing any issues, but we're testing the on board video and not the discrete nvidia card. After straightening them out on that I asked for an update. It took 2 emails to finally get any response. Then they claimed they attached a document for me to fill out and send back to them, but no attachment was ever sent. So I detailed the issue again to them via email. They then said they would update me soon. After a week I sent another email to find out what was going on. I got a canned apology for it taking so long. The last email I sent last week asking for an update, 3 weeks so far. Went unanswered so I sent again. I finally received a response saying it was in the final day of testing, if issue not seen then they would have to send it back to me. They said they would update me by COB Wednesday. Nothing back from them then or the following day. So I emailed again asking for an update. Still no response. I emailed them again today to find out anything and have yet to hear back. They dint seem ti want to replace the card at all and just keep giving me the run around. I could have replaced the card myself, but due to the warranty i had to send it in. Very frustrated at this point as i have been without my laptop for a month now for a simple card replacement. It would be much cheaper to replace the card now rather than waiting for it to fry other components. I was given the impression it would be replaced and done in a timely manner. I was not told after getting the technician at Warrantech to verify over the phone it was indeed a video card problem. That it would still have to go through another level of scrutiny and if they didn't agree or reproduce the issue it would not be fixed.

Was wonderful the first time with the exception that they had to change repair centers after the first one was not responsive or following the policy. As of recently (July 2017), I am very disappointed. I have been trying to send the computer back for repair...submitted a claim a week ago, but cannot any updates on the claim status, and have placed calls to the service center....only to get a message that "all agents are busy, please call again later". This is not good customer service and I hope this is a fluke, but since I cannot get a live person in the service center....I don't know!!!

Never again
I will never order Smart Guard "protection" again. My claim experience has been a horror show--I have never been treated so poorly by a company. Buyer beware. Amazon should be ashamed of partnering with this company.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, get this product!
Do NOT, under any circumstances, get this product! They are terrible.First, just activating t is like jumping through hoops, but, whatever. I had a problem with my laptop and needed to contact Smart Guard to fix it. It states in the product that they'll come to you. No, they wont. My laptop screen was turning al sorts of green. They made me send it to them (I had to pay for the packaging), and that took several days. Once they fixed that it came back looking good, but it started crashing every 10 minutes! Oh, by the way, they sent NO notification of what they did to the laptop. Nothing! So I contacted them again, and low and behold... They said I had to send it BACK.Two weeks later and it's back in my hands. THEY COMPLETELY REFORMATED IT! They stripped my Windows 10 and stuck Windows 8 on it!!! Now I have to shell out $120 to get it back to Windows 10!!!These people are incompetent! Do NOT buy this.

Definitely worth my money, and far greater than the manufacturer warranty!
This protection plan and company really helped me through the process of servicing my laptop. Manufacturer warranty was helpful, but did some damage to my laptop, however each time I contacted a Warrantech service tech, they were extremely helpful and more than happy to help me with my issues. The service was performed by a third party company, which updated me constantly throughout the repair process. All in all, they were kind and forthright with me about the issues, and in the end gave me all of my options for replacement of the unit. I would highly recommend this plan to anyone and everyone!
