Demon Records are excited to announce 8 x stunning individual vinyl issues of the Pretenders catalogue between 1980 1999. The LP sets include studio album reissues and two albums released on the format for the first time, all cut from the latest digital remasters and pressed on high-quality 180-gram heavyweight black vinyl. Second album Pretenders II was released in August 1981 and leaped straight in to the Top Ten. It was preceded by the Chrissie Hynde-penned hit singles Talk Of The Town and Message Of Love and also contained Day After Day and another hit version of a Ray Davies song, I Go To Sleep.

2nd Verse, Not as good as the First
While I much prefer the 1st album, this is a fine follow up and a great sounding version with many extras. Best sounding version, by far.

The extra disc has the live concert from the Santa Monica Civic. I was there so it was nice to hear the concert again. It's a surprisingly clean recording.

Pretenders fans will want to update their music/video catalog with this extended collection of songs & videos from Pretenders II
Thoroughly enjoyed group's sophomore effort, of course, but it was interesting to hear a couple of their demos and early live versions of all their hits to that time. Watching their music videos from '81 was a nostalgic experience hearkening back to the very first years of MTV. I recommend to any fan of the Pretenders to update his or her collection with this extended version of Pretenders II.

Worth it for the bonus's but not for the sound quality
Nice enough bonus's but for sound quality pales greatly in comparison to the MFSL. The MFSL sound compared to this set is like comparing night and day. If you really like this album then make room for both this and the MFSL.

This is an excellent package of The Pretenders second album
This is an excellent package of The Pretenders second album. The standard album is there on CD1. And CD2 begins with additional bonus tracks. But what makes this package is the Live Concert from 1981 in Santa Monica. Overall it is an excellent quality recording, with vocals and all 3 musicians well balanced and cutting through in the mix. If, like me, you bemoan the loss of James Honeyman Scott, a true talent on guitar, to find a rare recording of his playing Live, is a genuine treat. And they must have been on fiery form that night. There is also a dvd of various promo videos and BBC recordings to round off what is a well thought out package aimed at the true fans.
