![Dynasties [4k Ultra-HD] [Blu-ray] [2018]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51L01fZy2eL.jpg)

This title includes 4K ULTRA HD + BLU-RAYDynasties takes you deeper into the lives of five of the world’s most celebrated and endangered animals than ever before: Emperor Penguin, Chimpanzee, Lion, Painted Wolf and Tiger. Travel from the plains of Africa to the jungles of India, from the edge of the Sahara to the frozen wastes of Antarctica. Watch leaders battling rivals for their crown, feuds tearing families apart and parents risking their lives to protect offspring from the coldest and cruelest winter on earth. Five extraordinary animals in heroic battles against the odds, Dynasties, the most intimate and intense stories of their kind ever told. Audio on UHD Blu-Ray discs are in DTS HD MA 5.1. Dolby Atmos audio only on HD Blu-Ray discs. Review: The True Kings & Queens of the World - It’s funny that (oddjob) the person who gave this series 1 star firstly due to incorrect naming of a species doesn’t know much about painted wolves as the animals Latin given name Lycaon Pictus, translation literally means “painted wolf” so I wouldn’t take there review as well informed! And as for the statement of there not being a battle for territory, the documentary clearly stated that due to their environment getting ever smaller due to human populations the painted wolf once could live side by side with other packs as neighbours but are now having to fight for territory. I mean you literally see the wolves fighting each other, how that is seen as fabricated I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ The camera work is stunning with night shots and new technologies used to get as close to these animals as possible giving people the opportunity to see these creatures and not only learn a little something about them but also to care for our increasingly fragile world. The overbearing score as they call it is a personal preference you either like the music featured or not, I personally find with the right music it can only enhance the feelings and emotions of the visuals and again it was done well here. Overall I think it’s a stunning series and engages the audience with these true kings and queens who rule over our planet. Review: Stunning photography - I've got most of the newer Attenborough offerings on Blu-Ray and I watch them using a high definition projector. My friends queue up to be bowled over by the photography. I will never know how the cameramen have the patience to catch what we see. I'm just glad they do and I recommend their efforts without hesitation. One final thing. The video effect would not be complete without the commentary by David Attenborough.

The BBC and Attenbrough do it again
Another classic along the lines of Blue Planet 1&2, Africa, Planet Earth and the Life series and more. The stories are told in a way that means you feel attached to the subjects and invested in what happens to them (for good and bad). The legend Sir David Attenbrough does what he does best, let's hope he can carry of for many years to come

Dynasties 4k discs only contain 5.1 DTS-HD, no problem for modern systems.
Dynasties, it came out in 2018, when BBC was testing the waters with Atmos, so they tried it out on Blu-ray 1080p, but the 4k discs has DTS-HD, which my soundbar will give it a DTS X using Dts neutral x effect. That is also included on the 1080p discs too choice between DTS-HD 5.1 and Atmos. But 2022's The Green Planet 4k has DTS-HD 5.1 and Atmos on 4k and 1080p Blu-ray discs.

Very good but technically flawed.
A well made series with some beautiful imagery. I see greatly superior image quality with the UHD discs compared to the HD discs and I disagree with other reviewers claiming that there is no difference. However: Where is the dolby-Atmos soundtrack on the UHD discs? This error is astonishingly shoddy! Every BBC UHD release has the same problem of the black levels (brightness) being 1 percent too high. My TV is calibrated and zero output blacks on my other (many) UHD discs are grey on BBC discs requiring a -1% brightness correction. EVERY BBC disc exhibits this issue. MASTER YOUR DISCS PROPERLY BBC!

Very absorbing series of films
A snapshot in the family groupings of five species that illustrate the different survival strategies required by each to enlarge their numbers. I felt privileged to be able to watch these dramas unfold against against the many hardships and decisions that must be made. I found the filming of the crew very interesting and moving in the emotional way that some of them react to those species that they are filming. It is a wildlife series that I will enjoy playing again in the future with great interest and involvement in these family struggles.

Absolute masterpiece
Attenborough's best documentary ever. Images in 4k of a stunning beauty, beautiful and moving stories. I swear I was at the limit of crying. BBC has established a new reference.

David Attenborough again narrating .. Next time I go to Tassie I will have so many things to experience that I have missed in the past. Excellent documentary that explains our beautiful little friend. Probably of more benefit to Australians than anyone else, although the migration from the mainland over the past twenty years could begin to change all that. Recommended.

The footage was great however I'm a stiffler for content that is repetitive and there were a plethora of scenes that were showed several times over which is instantly annoying for me but other than that it was a great film with awesome content and the awesome David Attenborough
