Read this s on a "Fluke"
I happened to watch the movie on Hulu. Seeing the movie was based on a book, I decided to read the book. The movie is sad and actually a children's movie, which I found to be creative given the book is not for children. The movie is good, the book better. I did not find the book sad. Rather, thought provoking with humor. I'm not one to reveal spoilers, but I highly recommend reading the book if you are a dog lover, interested in life as viewed from a dog, and the possibilities of how we as humans come to terms with our lives.

No Fluke
Good book. Herbert definitely keeps you wanting more. Wasn't real crazy about the ending but sometimes King leaves you expecting a little different end as well. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys Herbert or King. A great read!

A dog you will always remember.
Told from the point of view of a dog, it was sweet, extremely funny and had brought with it several life lessons. I have read it more than once and enjoyed it each time. As a rule, I won't read a book more than once, so that tellsy you how much I liked it. I read it to my wife and we laughed out loud together.

Again and again
I have owned 4 different copies of Fluke over the years. Each one was given out and never returned. Now I have the electronic edition I can own forever. A classic read that will make you laugh and cry.

engaging story....
A unique story in its own rights. Speaks volumes about authors creative imagination...Not the usual thriller from James Herbert ,still, it is a fascinating story which you will like to gobble down in one go...

You have to accept whatever life gives you.
What a heartwarming story about a very likeable dog who used to be a man and begins a journey to find the people from his former life. A very easy read, moving and funny at times.

A favouite of mine and so...
I bought one for my son as a stocking filler. He didn't like it! Nothing wrong with the book. My son is just weird. Does anyone want to buy a 15-year-old? He's lazy, computer crazy, smells a bit and can't see a good book when it's put in front of him!

Brilliant and captivating read!
I loved this book, my dad recommended it to me and as my first read by James Herbert, I will definitely be taking a look at his other books. As my review title says, it really ws captivating. Makes you take a whole new look on a lot of things in life, as cheesy as that sounds. I won't give any of the story away but I will say that I loved the way 'Fluke' thought the whole book was written very well.I think I might try The Magic Cottage next as another recommendation from my dad, as he was right about Fluke. 10/10!

Classic James Herbert Fantasy
FLUKE James Herbert 1977 KINDLE EDITIONI have always been a great fan of horror and supernatural novels since I started reading them as a boy in the early fifties and over the years have amassed a large collection, mainly paperback copies and I am now replacing those available as e-books with Kindle Editions. This re-organisation has also given me the chance to revisit books that I have not read for a while and catch up with new additions to the genre which I may have missed.I purchased my original hardback copy of this unusual novel when it was first published in 1977 by which time I was already a hooked James Herbert fan. This story is a deviation from Herbert's normal horror genre being a fantasy which explores the re-incarnation of a man into the body of a dog and his search for his former family.Different, yes....but it has always been one of my favourite Herbert novels which I have read several times and have now added a Kindle edition to my collection to re-read again the the future.

One review spoiled the book a bit.
Let me explain. One review said it was predictable and just a hunt for food. It’s far from this. There is fantastic interactions and not a predictable run of events. A fantastic easy read. Even in one sitting. It was only after I read it I saw it was published 1977. It reads nothing like it. It has aged well. Very well. Recommend!

Simply the best.
I've read most of JH's novel's and none have disappointed. Fluke is genuinely intriguing in the way that it's told completely original and strangely believable. Go on read it you won't be disappointed and if it's your first J H novel it won't be your last.RIP J H gone but never to be forgotten (as is Fluke).
