USB 2.0 to 7+6 13 Pin Slimline Slim SATA II Laptop CD/DVD Drive Adapter Cable

Bought a new laptop that didn't have a CDRW. Pulled the CD from my old laptop but needed a USB cable to connect it to the new laptop. This adapter worked like a champ. Now able to used the old drive and all it cost me was $8 for this adapter. Great product.

Bought this cable to interface Raspberry Pi 3 with a GS40N Drive for an R&D project. Mounting /dev/cdrom works without a hitch and the USB2 connection maintained adequate power through hours of punishing ioctl calls causing nonstop spinups and seeks without issue. Highly recommend this cheap cable if you need a quick ad-hoc notebook cd-rom connection solution or if you have an SOC project that calls for a physical CD/DVD but you don't have the space for a separate drive PSU.

Works as advertised, loose & flimsy though, can't move the drive bay ( Nimitz 2nd HDD SSD Hard Drive Caddy for Lenovo Thinkpad T400 T400s T410 T410s T420s T430s T500 W500 ) once connected. I have the original HDD caddy may not be same as what is in the link. I got what i paid for.

works great, you can directly plug this into a notebook 'slimline sata' opto burner and the usb2 interface is pretty universal. note, usb3 is not universal and linux had some problems with a skylake mobo; but the usb2 version worked just fine and I was able to burn a dvd with this and a removed notebook dvd burner module (from lenovo, but most modern media bay style laptops use sata slimline cd/dvdrom units).

The unit I received had something rattling around loose inside the SATA connector shell. When I opened it to see, one of the surface mount capacitors had come loose from the circuit board. I re-soldered the capacitor to the circuit board and the device seems to be working fine, but the plastic shell is slightly small for the components and doesn't close together tightly. Obviously, the construction quality of the unit could be much better, although it does seem to function adequately.

Simple to use, works with raw SATA CD/DVD drives. Used for one week, has already saved me hours of work. Good construction, I recommend this to be in any computer technician tool kit.

I replaced the optical drive in my asus laptop by a latest ssd and bought this to use my optical drive as an usb device. Everything works perfectly and no setup needed.

Bought this for the sole purpose of connecting an internal laptop CD/DVD drive to a USB port to read/write CDs and DVDs. I connected the optical drive to the adapter and then plugged it into a USB port. The computer detected the drive and allowed me to briefly view the files on the disc and start copying a file from it. Within a few seconds, the drive disappeared then appeared again. The optical drive wasn't consistently working with the adapter so it's useless. Tried connecting multiple optical drive to the adapter and used multiple USB ports and computers with no success. This was a waste of money.
