16 Oz Ground Ancho Chile Pepper Chili Powder

i have searched out chilli powder. this has became my favorite and use it for many things. i have been voted best chilli in some small circles and ppl love the taco seasoning that i make. having a single base powder allows you to control taste better. this is a pretty mild powder.

This product is great. I made mole. This is a red sauce that you use for Mexican dishes.

Good value for the money

As other reviewers have noted, this ground ancho chile has a LOT of partially ground seeds. Deal-breaker for me. The texture is way too gritty, because of the seeds, not good at all. Many recipes for ancho chile sauce call for dried whole chiles but with seeds and stems removed, blender or food processor after cooking. The flavor is excellent, wonderful depth. I will be able to use this up for myself, but I wouldn't serve anything made with it to guests. I will not buy it again, and can't recommend purchase to anyone. It is mild, as you would expect ancho chile to be. And for reviewers who said it was not smoky, you may be thinking of chipotle chiles, which are much hotter; they're smoked ripe dried jalepenos, great in ground form, but fairly hot. Sorry I didn't give enough weight to reviewers who warned about the partially ground seeds. It occurs to me that one might be able to sift the seeds out with a fine wire sieve, or flour sifter, with eye and respiratory protection. This is a convenience ingredient for me, so the seeds make it very inconvenient.

Love the taste, I’m reordering it..

I make a wonderful red chicken marinade with this, but most commonly I use it to make awesome ground beef taco seasoning. I saute a large onion, brown 2 pounds of ground beef then add 2 Tbs ancho chili powder, 1/2 tsp garlic powder (not garlic salt), 1.5 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp chipotle powder (or red pepper flakes), 1/2 tsp dried oregano, 1.5 tsp smoked paprika (Trader Joe's brand is my favorite), 1 Tbs ground cumin, 1.5 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper. Mix together then add 1 cup of water. Stir and cook until the water is mostly all cooked off. So good.
