It's been sometime since I read this, if my recollections are incorrect I apologize and will correct them.The volume is admittedly slight and couldn't possibly cover the entire subcontinent.I would still,however, have expected a better sampling of the country's rich domestic architecture and decoration both geographically and historically. It focuses mainly on post-colonial homes and mainly on the north-western part of the country with only a very brief section on some rural homes to compensate for this. The commentary is trite, leaden and not insightful. The photography is pretty if forgettable.This is not essential reading on the subject but is adequate coffee table fare.
