5 String Guitarron (LV2),Black

I did not realize I was ordering a vihuela; I need a guitarron for my mariachi band. We have used this vihuela anyway, however, it does NOT stay in tune. I'm hoping over time this will improve but it's been several months and still difficult to keep in tune, even through one song!

Everything seems to be well done with instrument. I'm a lifelong classical/flamenco string player who decided to start a Mariachi band. But, I'm also only moderately nerdy when it comes to the build of my instruments. I need it to play well and sound good. This instrument does both, and I think it's beautiful. - In my experience anything beyond the price range of this instrument can't sound too much better and would only be cosmetically more beautiful.These are hand made instruments, so I'm sure the build depends on what particular instrument you get. Fortunately after playing it for several hours, and inspecting it I give it the highest rating. And, I say "Fortunately" because It's difficult to buy handmade instruments online since you can't play them before purchasing. Nonetheless, I can only say BRAVO! to the H. Jimenez, the shipping company, and the seller for coming through with integrity on this one.P.S. I play left-handed, I inverted the strings and the intonation and action are still excellent.

Serious finish defect, but excellent sound and quality besides that.

I’ve been playing mariachi for over 10 years and glad to let you know that This is a vihuela and it’s nothing similar to a guitarron, it’s played just like a guitar. The quality is poorly never inconsistent always something wrong with it and easily able to crack. Sound one of the worst sounds I’ve ever heard coming out of it, I’ve tried so many different instruments from the same brand and it’s just terrible….too expensive for something poorly made. If you want an actual mariachi instrument I recommend going online to mariachiconnections🤷🏼‍♂️
