It is a classic
First listening to this album it seemed average - but one you had to own. But I tell you, it grows on you. And after a while you get interested in the second CD as well - and THAT is awsome lounge music that will stay with you for a long time.Having listened to them now for some months i find both CDs recommendable: CD 1 from track 6 and onward, CD 2 from track 5 and onward. That is where the lift-off starts..!If you like lounge such as Costés this is a must-have.

Both CDs here are good - for different reasons too!
I couldn't help but notice the criticism regarding the difference in style between the two discs. Granted, they are mixed by different DJs, but I liked both styles and selection of tunes. For those famliar with the L'Apericlub series, Disc #2 is for you. For Hotel Costes fans, Disc #1 is a closer bet. My favorite aspect of this album is its homage to classic jazz and latin jazz.

sweet music to my ears
I have had disc 1 in my cd player almost constantly for the last year. Great dinner party music mixed in with the Verve remixed cds!

Worth it for the first disc.
I agree with the previous review. When I first listened to this CD in the store, I was absaloutely taken by the first disc. In my excitement, I didn't even bother to listen to the second, failing to realize that it was mixed by a different DJ.The first disc caters for the perfect party atmosphere, mixing a diverse range of styles -anything from cuban son, to seventies vegas-style bossa nova, to funk infused gypsy flamenco- in an intelligent sequence. You can put this CD on at a party, and be garenteed that all your guests will remain happy and dancing from beginning to end. This is the only CD I own of this nature. The second disc, I can imagine, may cater well for the atmosphere of Maxim's itself, but, put in any other stereo anywhere else, is really quite average. I already own too many ambient/chillout compilations, and this CD is by far one of the most average. If your a great fan of atmospheric/elevator music, such as the likes of the Cafe del Mar series, then you may enjoy it. But really, for it's price, this CD is far below worth it.
