Good heater, if you know what to expect
I installed this heater for my 13k inground pool with electrical service approx 120ft away using #6 wire. As long as you understand how to design the electrical to support this huge power draw and understand the tradeoffs, it works great. Be sure you calculate the voltage drop at the end of your wiring run as that will affect the heater performance. Be sure your breakers are rated for the correct ambient and termination temps because the breakers can get really hot especially if you're heating your pool 24/7 for several days and your service panel is in direct sun. Ensure your electrician understands this.I wanted a heater where I could raise the pool temp to 85F with two days notice anytime during pool season, and this does that. In socal in the winter I can heat my pool from 55F to 85F in approx 4-5 days (but you pay a ton of money in electricity to do so). During spring/summer I can easily raise the temp at least 10-15 degrees per day of use.Watch out for the pool chemistry which directly impacts longevity of the heating elements. Follow the manual instructions and you'll be good. I also drain mine when not in use to further extend longevity. The way this heater works is that is has 3 9kw heating elements and draws the full 27k (9kw x 3) when heating up to the set temp. Once at the set temp, it holds the water temp by cycling the three 9kw heating elements on and off. When the water temp stabilizes it then cycles one 9kw heating element on and off to maintain the water temp. The on-off cycling, especially at 27kw, can have the unintended effect of lights flickering in the house (especially LED lights) due to the momentary voltage drop across the entire house. Depending on your electrical service and neighborhood that voltage drop could result in momentary voltages as low as 80V that I've seen. For a future version I would recommend improving the on-off cycling (when maintaining a set temperature). If there's a way to ramp power draw from zero to 9kw/27kw that would help with voltage drops and lights flickering.

It works great for about 1 month - I'm on my 3rd unit
TERRIBLE DO NOT BUY.They told me after the unit stopped working after 6 weeks that hard water caused a complete decay of the elements and that every 2 months I should have washed them. Well, if it stopped working after 6 weeks, then how is that even possible. They said the warranty doesn't cover hard water. I said that the elements are covered under warranty and she said "no" they aren't. They can't just "say" that. I asked them to prove it and show me where it says anything about hard water and she said it doesn't. They simply do not honor their own product.Update again - My replacement has now stopped working. This elements inside are absolutely shot. They can't handle the chlorine.Update: I got a replacement unit and this one works great!I read the bad reviews, yet I still ordered this hoping it would work for me. It didn’t. The install was fairly easy as I had my electrician do it and my plumber. It worked great for two weeks. And then nothing. Then we go through the endless loop of terrible customer support. Customer support expects you to be a wizard at machinery. The flow meter is in the inlet and it is extremely difficult to take out and check and extremely difficult to put back in. After weeks of struggling with customer support inadequacy, she simply wanted to send me another flow meter, which was in perfect condition. I asked to speak with a supervisor and the lady said that she was going to tell me the same thing. I asked them to overnight the flowmeter because I have a short term rental business and this was going to cause a big problem for the weekend, and she said that I would have to pay for the overnight even though I spent weeks trying to solve this on the phone with them. I’ve had the unit for one month, end it is also already resting on the outside. I do not recommend this product. Beware.

Does better than I expected with a 20,000 gallon pool
I bought the pool 27 and the spa 11 but this review is only for the pool 27. I have no idea how this little piece of equipment works so dang good. But it blew away my expectations. I knew it had horrible tech support. I also know it might not last over 2 years, but my options were limited. My pool is indoors. I didn’t want to run gas and vent it and worry about gas and carbon monoxide. So this was pretty much my only option. I could care less if this only lasts 3 years because it is 1/4 the Cost of a gas heater. I can replace it 4 times and still be in it less than a gas one. Now for the performance. My pool is 20,000 gallons. 2 ft on one end and 9 ft on the other. 40 feet long. 18 wide. This heater was not supposed to work. I’m 3000+ gallons over the specifications. However, on Friday I started with a pool temp of 62 degrees and by Sunday it was 85. In 48 hours it raised the temp almost 25 degrees and that’s absolutely amazing. I thought it would take a week to do that. It shown inlet temp and the outlet temp was always between 6 & 8 degrees warmer. After 48 hrs it was up to temp and turned itself off. Is my power bill going to be crazy this month? Yes! I know it will. But I believe now it’s up to temp it’ll maintain it well. It only seems to run a couple hours per day now to keep it at 86. If you’re buying this and asking If it’ll cost a lot to operate just know it will. But it doesn’t use gas and it’s way cheaper to buy. I am installing 72 solar panels on my house and I’ll never pay for another electric bill again. My hot tub will stay 101 with the eco spa 11, and my pool will stay 86 with the eco pool 27, and the ac will be running on all 4 units, both my Tesla’s will charge every day and I’ll never have to pay a penny in electricity again. So it all depends how you look at it. If you don’t have solar I’d think it’ll cost around 200 a month in electricity to operate it. But once again. 1/4 the cost of gas heater and no gas bill. So pick your poison and roll with it. So far I give this unit a solid 10/10.
