Great book. Maybe not best for absolute beginners (not that it claims to be such, I’m just sayin’)
Love this book! I’m a beginner (or at least hope to be soon) and have been doing a ton of research. One small feature that it includes (I’m speaking to a one page spread, people) is a garden by the cuisine you like to eat. As I began planning, I never would have thought of those specifics.I will say though that living in the far south, I found another book which gives more specific information on my region and has some tips that are even more beginner friendly such as how to test for worms in your soil, and how to get a good feel for your soil’s components without sending it off for professional testing, which this book recommends. This book gives great information on specific plants to grow and what works best for them, but it may not be the most helpful for others like me who are hopeful beginners to vegetable gardening.Beautiful pictures, but I wouldn’t expect any less from BHG.

A good resource that is easy to follow and beautiful illustrated.
I love gardening. I have always wanted to learn how to meditate and engage in stress fee mind sets and that has always been difficult for me. Gardening can be so cathartic as I cover my hands in the dirt and mud and smell the wet dirt and feel the pride at growing your own food. Providing for your family with your own two hands. Unfortunately, I am relatively new at gardening and I was suffering from some failures and I wanted to do more, grow more and expand my knowledge as to how to accomplish this.

Great Resource!
After I thought I knew what I was getting in to when starting my own vegetable garden, I quickly realized I was mistaken. After my first year of crops were average, I needed a resource that was always at my finger tips. If you are like me, this is the book for you. The colorful illustrations followed by descriptions of variety, lighting needs, spacing, harvesting, and storing are a great step by step guide. I will be using the book this year when planning and planting my vegetables.

Helpful
This is a very good book to use for reference. There are some great sections that give you an overview of gardening techniques which are helpful but, to me, the most helpful part is the section in which specific plants are discussed in more detail. Pick a few vegetables, fruits, or herbs and then learn specific information about how to grow them successfully. I plan to use this to plan out my garden this year.

Great pics but a bit low on content
Has fantastic pictures but is a bit low on content, especially on pruning trees. Overall similar to their magazines. I would purchase again because it is nice to have a book not so technical that you can flip through and dream of :)
