Great guitar!
We bought this for our 2 year old who loves to play with dad's guitar. I wanted something that was good quality and REAL, but not too expensive where I would feel like I had to monitor him with it. This was perfect!! First of all, it's adorable!!! It is the perfect size for him, and looks like a regular ol guitar. Very nice wood and coloring. The strings are metal and not plastic like a lot of kids strings. It's tunes up great and holds the tune well. It also comes with a black nylon bag to store it in, which is SO cute. It has a strap on the bag, it is a thin bag, but really cute and does it's job. It also comes with a strap for the guitar which is great for kids. Comes with a pick and an extra string, although we bought about 12 more picks since lord knows what 2 year old do with tiny things like that (i think there are about 6 in our heater vent already! haha). It also came in a nice box to store it in, it's just cardboard, but it is very handy to keep it in. Then it was packaged in another cardboard shipping box, the same size as the storage box. SO, that was nice, a good place to keep it.My son loves it and my husband loves that he and the baby have matching guitars! Great quality, would definitely recommend to anyone!! (also, obviously 2 is pretty young to actually PLAY the guitar, i think this is a great one for ALL kids, not just toddlers). Just keep in mind this IS a $20 guitar, so its not the BEST quality. but i think it is worth WAY more than the the 20 something i paid.

Cute Junker
Looks good out of the box. While tuning the strings two of five broke. I knew that this is considered a toy for the most part, but you should be able to get tuned without breaking the strings. So, once I was able to utilize the two additional strings provided I continued to try to tune, knowing that i would not be able to get enough tension for a tuned guitar, I was careful this time. However the entire wood base delaminated this time. Our child was never able to even strum this junker. It now looks like the aftermath of a Green day performance.

Love this guitar!
Santa brought this guitar for my 4 year old and we love it! One of the strings broke right away, but my neighbor fixed it easily for us. I have 2 and 4 year old boys who are very rough on things and the guitar has held up for almost 8 months! None of us really know how to play the guitar, but I find myself fiddling on it a lot. It's a nice size for little ones and also a nice size for learning to play. My neighbor tuned it and played for us and it sounded impressive! I'll probably have Santa bring another for my 2 year old this xmas :) Maybe one for me too!

Great Christmas gift for little boy
I was just a bit dissapointed by some of the scratches/sticker work on the body of the guitar, but for the money it is to be a bit expected. This guitar toes that line between toy and musical instrument, leaning a bit more toward toy. It is a bit difficult to keep in tune and even when it's tuned correct some of the chords just don't sound right. In all happy with the purchase and I have an extremely happy 5yr old boy who can now sit and play with dad.

Quality instrument at surprisingly low cost
First let me say this is an excellent instrument-- surprisingly so.The unit I received had the fingerboard half unglued from the neck. I returned it and bought another; I figure any product can have a bad one come through once in a while. The second one arrived in prime condition.I set about modifying it-- as I have found is often necessary with most off-the-shelf guitars. I found the nut set far too low, so I put a shunt on the neck. The bridge was too low (the strings buzzed) so I placed a shunt under the bridge. As many experienced guitar players know, this is very common activity if one wants an instrument to play just right. Even expensive guitars often need that kind of tweaking. Then I removed the steel strings and replaced them with quality Martin nylon strings. It makes for a much richer sound. Tuned it up and was pleasantly pleased with the resulting sound quality.Information on the guitar itself:* This is a "1/2 size" guitar, measuring about 31" top to bottom. The neck at the nut is 1 5/8". Nut to fret 12 is 9.75". As such this guitar actually falls into four classifications: 1) Young student guitar 2) Child's first guitar 3) Travel guitar 4) Guitalele-- a somewhat new breed of instrument on the marketQuality-wise it exceeds the Yamaha Guitalele and is about equal to the Cordoba in both size and sound quality. It comes with a gig bag (zero protection-- mainly just to carry it in) so as a travel guitar it's excellent-- especially at the price. For young students or children the smaller fretboard makes it easier for shorter fingers to reach the chords. But it's still large enough for adult fingers to play, so bridges all four areas listed above. The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the steel strings. Some folks might prefer steel though, so that's a personal preference. I can't estimate how the non-adjustable neck would stand up over time under the tension of steel strings, but I doubt it will warp with nylon... and nylon strings really bring out a sound of a baritone ukulele while still offering some of the depth of a guitar. It has a light tone of course because of size, but it's quite pleasant. What I really love about this guitar is the composite (ie plastic resin) rounded back. The birch soundboard combined with that kind of back provides excellent resonance-- far better than one would expect. The quality of manufacture in the body is pristine; there are no jagged edges, dings, or varnish drips. It is a well-made instrument, which was another pleasant surprise. The only thing I feel "uneasy" about is the molded fretboard. I am used to metal frets. This fretboard is molded from what seems to be the same material the back is made of. It works and I have to give it a thumbs-up for consistency because it is molded-- but I can't say how it will stand up over time. I would guess far better under nylon strings than steel strings. Of course frets can always be filed down and replaced but as I say, they work out of the box. They aren't painted and that makes them difficult to see. But the rest of the instrument is of such high quality, the frets are a minor issue. In short, at the price of this guitar it beats out the Yamaha Guitalele hands down, equals the Cordoba, but is half the price of either instrument. It is considerably better than other half-size guitars I've seen (except of course for the pro models that cost 4 to 8 times more). At this price, I don't believe there is a better offering on the market.

Dissapointed
My 6 yr old wanted a guitar for Christmas. Since he shows some interest in learning music I thought this would be a good purchase. The description labels the guitar as a student guitar, but it should be listed as a toy. Needless to say I am sorely disappointed. Other reviews make this "guitar" out to be a quality purchase, I must have gotten a reject. My 2yr old has fun with it.Pro:CheapCon:Cheap, Poor construction (knots in wood, fretboard/neck separation, high frets, sharp edges on the neck), doesn't hold tune, high e string buzzes due to poorly mounted bridge.
