The key it self did not fit the lock cylinder. It was too thick.

My case broke for my 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage key. I was able to open the original case and move the electronics "pod" to this new case. The black buttons were a three-button set with trunk release that is used for other models, so I need to snip the thin plastic to separate the three buttons and use the two needed for the Mirage key. When I tried to get the blank key cut to match my old key, the fellow at the hardware store discovered that the blank was not quite the right shape or widths to match the original. Fortunately, the new blank has a screw to remove the key blank. I plan to take it out and break the old metal key from the bad case and make any modifications to it to screw it into the new case. I expect this might require some metal filing and drilling and some epoxy glue. (On a side note, the fellow at Ace Hardware also showed me a univeral transponder key for Mitsubishi that has no remote controls or battery, but has the right key blank and the transponder to allow the key to start the car and to manually unlock the driver door with the key. It needs no programming and costs $99 rather than the $250 to get a new key with remote. You will have to pay the price to get the key blank ground to match.)

These do NOT include the electronics to make them actually work. I thought the red part was a self contained electronic piece but it's an empty piece of plastic missing the electronics. So buyer beware. you can only fix cosmetic problems with your key with this kit. It won't start your car. It will let you get in the car and turn the ignition. but without the electronics. the car won't start. Pretty bummed and feel ripped off.

It’s not as advertised or at least in the pictures, i only received the internal red battery and electrical compartment and it served me no purpose as i had to replace the black exterior shell piece.
