Well Matured Cheese Powder - 500g Resealable Pouch

This kind of cheese may not be for everyone, but personally I find it has an excellent flavour (bearing in mind it is powdered) and is quite versatile.Some reviews suggest that the smell is overly unpleasant and that the taste is bland, although from my experience I'd have to say those comments are somewhat exaggerated. While you do get hit with quite a potent cheese smell when opening the pack, it's certainly not offensive and doesn't really linger once the pack is resealed. In terms of flavour I found it was perfectly cheesy, not super strong but did taste like a cheddar and was about as good as you can expect for a shelf stable powdered version of a typically fresh product. Of course both of these things are largely up to personal preference, but from what I've tried I can't fault this cheese.So far I've used it to make a cheese sauce for pasta and have found two generous teaspoons seem to be a good amount per 100g portion of dried pasta. I also like to add a little mustard powder, some vegetable stock powder, a teaspoon of flour to thicken, and a few pre-prepared vegetables all in the pan with just enough water to cover the pasta. Cook until the water is absorbed and you've got a very quick, easy, and tasty meal in a matter of minutes.

Useful for sauces or adding to soup or similar, but not especially strong tasting.However, other reviews tell me that this is especially strong smelling. I don't get this - especially compared with "real" cheese - parmesan or similar. Maybe that's just me.

Good flavour, excellent either sprinkled on food or stirred into a sauce.

I hoped I would really love this powder, really I did.. but it has a slightly weird taste and every time I use it in something which needs to go into the oven I can’t get rid of the cheese smell from everything- hair, clothes, *the whole room*I’m going to persist because frankly I bought a huge pack and I ain’t wasting it ! It Certainly enhances cheese flavour if you add it to cheese scones but you’ll be sniffing your clothes, hair And skin afterwards obsessively because you smell like cheese

This cheese powder smells absolutely terrible, even though the price is good, it doesn't justify the smell. It tastes decent but it's impossible to enjoy due to very strong bad odour. Best description of the smell is cheese that was left in a sealed bag in the sun for a while.Not sure if I can recommend this product.

I love cheese and like to add it to my meals, but can't keep it in my fridge, as I either eat it too much of it too quickly, even on its own, or if I miraculously manage to ignore it for long enough until I need it for a meal, it might have gone bad in between... I briefly considered grated parmesan but it was too pricey, so this is a great alternative, I haven't gone as far as trying to eat it by the spoon yet (or snorting it), but it's certainly enhanced my meals with a very distinctive cheesy flavour, and it keeps well in the cupboard for ages...

This cheese powder arrived quickly in a well sealed bag. On opening, the wonderful strong cheese aroma was very potent indeed! I added a heaped tablespoon to a potato cake/scone mix of ; 300g cold mash potato/100g plain flour/ one egg yolk and 75g butter. All mixed together, flattened into rounds and then iron griddle baked. The resulting 'cakes' were delicious! Incredibly moorish, with a subtle backdrop of mature flavoured cheese. Going off using it the next time, by adding three tablespoons to a bechamel sauce for a dish of mac 'n'cheese (which was deeply decadent by the way..lol!).. I'm going to be reaping the rewards of this lovely powdered cheese mix for some time yet to come!

Not bad at all the amount and taste was good enough for me.
