Fantastic pliers!
Unless you're prepared to spend $3xx.xx on titanium fishing pliers, you're left with dozens of choices to wade through in the sub-$100 range. Having tried, and regretted trying, some "cheapos", I read reviews and forums to help determine my best option for combining features, performance and value. Utimately, I still had to take a leap of faith between a dozen or so contenders and chose these pliers from BFT because of their rubber-insert grips. I lucked out - this is a well-designed and finely crafted tool! The quality of construction is excellent with no rough edges. The finish is consistent and flawless. The tension screw adjusts with precision and the jaws operate smoothly. The cutters meet squarely and cut effectively (I even received an extra set of replacement cutters!). The rubber inserts are wonderful for improving grip without feeling mushy. Overall, while the pliers are light weight, there is a heft and solid feeling to them. Having owned them for less than a month, I can't comment on corrosion resistance or longevity (these were purchased for salt water fishing), but I do know that I'm impressed enough already by them that I'm getting another pair for use around the house.

Great Pliers and Great Company
I have been using these pliers for 5 months, fishing in salty environments. The pliers does not show any signs of oxidation yet, but I do rinse them off after each trip and shoot it down with WD40 before storing it. It grips the hook well when removing it from the fish and the cutters works on mono and braid. I am very happy with the purchase. About a month ago, my buddy and I were not having any action, so he decided to go and hook himself (not on purpose). He did not have any pliers on him so I reluctantly gave him mine to try and cut his hook. I knew the cutters will not be able to cut the hook, but we had to try. The hook wasn't cut and my cutters were trashed. We went back inshore and I took him to the hospital to cut the hook out. The next day, I sent an email to the company, Bite Fishing Tackle stating I want to buy a new set of cutters and sent them a picture of the pliers so they could match the cutter type. They sent one right away free of charge. Included in the kit were two screws, the cutters and an allen wrench. However, the cutters that was sent were wrong. It would not line up in the jaws thus, the cutters would not meet. I sent them another email and complimented them on their cutter kit and described what cutter blades I needed and send only the cutter blades since they sent me all the other parts already. A week later, a brand new set of pliers arrived in my mailbox. What a surprise! Not that is a company that stands by their product.

Finally a set of fishing pliers for the long haul.
These pliers are a real step up from previous versions. I'm a kayak fisherman in both fresh and salt water and the anodized aluminum finish and construction will hold up well. The side cutter are useful for cutting tie wraps on crab traps. When the cutters are within the jaws they don't work as well. The included sheath is of nylon and can be strapped to the H-rail of the kayak easily. This also comes with a tether so they don't fall overboard.

Light weight and perfect!
I've had my Bite pliers for a couple of months now. Only use around salt water as we are on the Gulf. Love them! I wash with Salt Away after each time out and have had ZERO rust issues so far. Light weight and easy to use. I agree with some of the sheath comments... but, I just go under the swivel clip with my belt and they stay in place fine. Would like to buy some extra cutters but cannot find where to buy. If anyone knows, please let me know. Would highly recommend these pliers!!!

Worth a few extra bucks over competitors
I tried a couple of the other highly rated braid cutters on Amazon in the $20 range. They seem to be made by same manufacturer, just different branding. Both did a poor job at cutting braid after a few days out. This Bite tool is a few more bucks but worth it in every way. Cuts braid great. Blades stay sharp awhile. Come with replacements too. Overall, great build quality.

These pliers are as extreme as me. Definitely recommended!
I purchased a set of these pliers a year ago and they're awesome! I'm a deep see kayak fisherman in Hawaii and these pliers have withstood at least 60x 12hour days of the most brutal conditions any pliers would ever travel with a fisherman. I keep them on the front of my seat in the holder and the are constantly splashed and sprayed with saltwater. At the end of the, day I just rince them off with freshwater and a couple times I sprayed the hinge off with corrosion block. They still look brand new! Great Pliers....! Highly Recommend!
Received my Pliers and put it through its paces immediately on an ocean fishing trip to San Miguel Island off California. I love the spring loading which makes them a lot easier to use and the cutter worked fantastic.... easily cutting thin diameter 40 pound hollow braid with one attempt! I would definitely buy these again in the future!

Much better than fighting rust and corrosion
I've been using an old pair of needle-nose pliers for years, working to keep them from getting too rusty as best I could. I was out on a friend's boat and he had a pair of these aluminum pliers and I was truly impressed. Two years old and hardly looked used, even though we are both avid fishermen in salt water. I ordered a pair as soon as I got home (after processing the halibut :) and have not been disappointed. I plan to get another pair to give as a gift to relatives who also fish in the ocean. A little pricey, but they do the job better than trying to keep a regular pair of needle-nose alive.
