Seachem PhosGuard 1 Liter

First The product works well, I have used this product for over 3 years, at one point my Phosphates was out of control, now that I've have started using phosguard it keep my phosphate level at bay, I change the Media ever 4 week in my reactor, my set up is a 220 gallon reef tank and it works really well

I’ve been struggling. Despite RO water and new salt, couldn’t get rid of the brown algae in my sand. Changed this phos guard weekly and in about 2-3 weeks, sand is clean! Somehow I had silicates!

love this product it really works well if you use it according to directions. I used to have a high phosphate problem in my tankeven when I did numerous water changes I couldn't figure it out. finally I found the problem and removed the source but I've been using this product ever since and it really helps keep everything bare minimum levels. so far it's the best product I found for phosphate removing so I will continue to use it.. love it!

Clean up is great and it’s been great to use

These are before and after photos of how well this product works after 30 days. My 200 is showing signs of overstocking as my little fish are growing up. Phosphates were through the roof no matter what I tried. This product helped bring them down to zero, so I just reduced the amount I use until I get it to a minimum amount. I’ve only used in a saltwater tank, so I’m not sure how efficient it is in fresh tanks. This and adding additional mechanical filtration does the trick!!

I’ve been dealing with diatoms and while they’re not catastrophic, they look gross in my otherwise pretty betta/shrimp tanks. I just added this today so can’t speak on the results, but want to add that the media is very small (a tiny bit larger than those tiny spherical sprinkles), so be sure to have a very fine mesh filter bag to put it in. You only need 1/3 cup of Phosgard per 100 gallons of freshwater, so keep that in mind so you don’t accidentally buy two lifetimes worth of it like I did.

Well, I know it works because I put WAY too much too quickly. Stripped my tank of PO4 and it showed. Corals took a hit so need to make sure you slowly add the PO4. I would do it in 1/4 recommended and bump it up until you see the positive effects of low PO4. Nuisance algae should start disappearing, algae on glass not building up either at all or nice week or two gap in between cleaning, etc.

It's nice because you can just throw a bag of it in your sump/return area. It works slowly but is pretty weak in removing phosphates and makes the water cloudy no matter how well I rinse. I have to use double the amount indicated to lower my phosphates. The media is full after 4 days and needs discarded. I will be moving to a reactor and gfo for something with a little more muscle and longevity.
