TRENDnet 1-Port Multi-Function USB Print Server TE100-MFP1 (Version v1.0R)

I recently purchased the TRENDnet 1-Port Multi-Function USB Print Server TE100-MFP1 (Version v1.0R), and I am extremely satisfied with both the product and the vendor. The responsible, punctual, and affordable service provided by the vendor has truly impressed me.

The Trendnet 1-port multi-function USB print server TE100-MFP1 did not work for me. I have purchased many Trendnet USB print servers before for myself and my clients without any problems.I wanted three things to be satisfied.#1 A print server that I could connect to my wire network, then connect to my printer by USB cable. The Trendnet was successful with this requirement.#2 I need to print from any of three Window PCs. Old desktop running Windows XP, a new PC running Windows 7 and a notebook running Windows 7. The Trendnet was successful with this requirement.#3 I wanted to be able a print from any of the PCs in any order without messing around with Trendnet software. I just wanted to use Excel to print to the printer and have the print jobs print. The Trendnet failed at this requirement.I setup the first PC with the Trendnet Control Center utility software and I was able to print. Then I setup the second PC and I had to click a button in the second PCs Trendnet Control Center utility requesting permission to use the printer, then on the first PC I had to access the Trendnet Control Center utility and access the request to print on the second PC. Once you accept permission you can print all you want on the second PC. Then if you want to print on the first PC you have to click on the button requesting permission to print, then on second PC you have to accept … Then if you add a third PC you just multiple the issues when you want to print.I downloaded and read the PDF manual from the Trendnet website. I spoke with tech support for 20 minutes trying to get this printing without any success. They told me just to click on the print utility and request print permission, then to accept it on the second PC. It would be easier to me to just have three USB cables and switch them when I wanted to print. If I wanted a manual way to print I would move the cables.So I am throwing device away and getting a real USB print server that will allow me to print from any of my clients three Window PCs without asking permission to print each time.If the description had told me I would have to use software each time I switched printers. I could have made a better choice.I don't hate many tech products but I do hate this one.I will use Trendnet again for other devices, I will just make sure it is not a multi-function device.

The inducement and descriptions are attractive. A big attraction is that the device interfaces with the printer's USB port rather than a parallel port. Installation is simple and obvious. Operating the unit requires that specialized software be installed on EVERY computer that wants to use the USB-only capable printer for wheich this unit functions as a so-called server -- but it's NOT a real print server in the sense that, say, HP, would call it a server. More in a moment. A user's guide in PDF form comes on the CD which contains some trivial "in case of trouble" information: "Check all connections", "uninstall and reinstall the software." What is inexcusable is that there is NO discussion of how the printer's software/drivers should be configured. Most USB printers require that you run part of the installation process BEFORE connecting the printer and powering it on and then continuing the installation process. However, if you're using this device, you evidently need to configure the printer to use a TCP/IP port connection. Nowhere is the printer installation and configuration in any version of Windows discussed. They advise only in case of trouble to contact Windows/Apple tech support -- nether of whom now anything about this device. Their web site contains some additional documentation, none of it helpful, and all of it written by someone for whom English is a very foreign language.The "last straw" came when I noticed after trying several strategies for installation was that the software provided for controlling the box would not allow automatic recognition of the device/printer at computer boot-up because, it claimed, that the RAW, TCP and SMB protocols were not recognized by this device. The warning note did not say what it DOES recognize, however.Attempts at getting help via on-line was a tail chasing exercise. I think I was speaking with someone in Taiwan, but I'm not sure.Never could get it to work. There was ZERO communication between the unit and the printer's USB port. Incidentally, there's a note somewhere that "two people can't use the device at the same time. Obvious? What they mean is this print "server" does not cache any additional print jobs that may be submitted to the unit -- the second, third, etc., get an error message and their print job jas to be killed and resubmitted.I'm returning the unit. Once again, a poorly thought out design and non-existent tech support from a product made in China.

Why discard a perfectly good multifunction printer when you have a mixed OS environment due to upgrades? We have had inkjets and laser printers that were fine as USB printers but not accessible when we upgraded to (or added) computers with newer operating systems. This device solves the problem by making the printer visible on an ethernet network and allows you to use the scanning and faxing functions as well as printing from multiple versions of Windows (or Mac). Each machine must have the software installed that intends to use it and the drivers that are specific to your printer model in some cases, but it extends the life of your hardware while you transition to new equipment over time. The installation is simple and straight-forward (sometimes I think it's easier than installing the HP bloatware suite that has a spotty install record). I heartily endorse this unit as a cost-effective print server solution.

Le problème: utiliser en réseau mon imprimante laser ML1640 , éloignée de ma box, sans avoir à la relier à un PC allumé en permanence.La solution : Ce serveur Trendnet, intercalé entre imprimante - via USB - et réseau - via boitier CPL-. Lequel réseau est controlé par une box Orange play.Le serveur a été installé en 5 mn sur le réseau en installant sur mon PC la dernière version du logiciel TREND NET USB Control Center Utility - et oui, en anglais, hélas- . Mise à jour du firmware dans la foulée pour être à la dernière version. Imprimante aussitôt connectée, aussitôt reconnue sans aucun besoin de configuration. Première impression 10 minutes après avoir branché le serveur. Celui ci est fourni avec alimentation, CD d'installation et cordon réseau. Seule remarques il faut aller chercher sur le site de TRENDNET, la doc, les logiciel et firmware pour avoir les dernières versions. Par ailleurs le produit est fourni dans une grande boite de 26x17x7 cm et mesure 8x6x2 cm . bravo la logistique !!. Si vous avez un problème identique au mien, je vous recommande ce produit.

J'ai acquis ce serveur d'impression non pas pour une imprimante mais un scanner Epson Perfection 4490 et windows 7 car le constructeur indique que ce serveur est compatible avec les imprimantes multifonction, dont fonction scanner. Après installation du logiciel très rapide, 1 minute, vous pourrez constater que l'interface du logiciel est minimaliste et en anglais, l'anglais n'est pas gênant vu le côté minimaliste. Le scanner mis sous tension est aussitôt reconnu!!! Le pilotage du scanner se fait comme d'habitude, à partir du logiciel Epson, ou d'applications qui savent communiquer avec le scanner. Un scanner à usage personnel est plutôt lent, et je n'ai constaté aucune perte de vitesse avec ce serveur d'impression. Franchement bluffé par l'efficacité de ce produit, il existe d'autres serveurs moins chers, peut être auraient ils reconnus mon scanner également, en tout cas le TRENDNET TE100MFP1 est parfaitement compatible avec mon scanner Epson. Essaiconcluant également avec mon imprimante Epson WF-7015 juste pour voir car l'imprimante possède une carte réseau. En résumé : si vous cherchez un serveur pour piloter votre scanner Epson ou autres marques (non testé) celui ci fonctionnera parfaitement. Points négatifs :1 - le prix une cinquantaine d'euros, on trouve des produit similaires à 20-30 euros,2 - le boitier est en plastique, très compact, mais fragile, l'interrupteur marche/arrêt notamment est à manipuler avec précaution.

Le boitier s'attribue une ip sur le réseau (que je vous conseille de passer en IP fixe via le routeur).> Brancher l'imprimante en USB sur le serveur d'impression.Logiciel à installer (livré en mini CD) sur chaque PC voulant contacter l'imprimante : TRENDnet USB Control Center Utility> Le logiciel se lance automatiquement au démarrage de Windows, avec la fonction auto-connect activée, plus besoin de s'en occuper.Attention : J'ai dû réinstaller le driver de mon imprimante après mise en service de la solution, sans quoi, les logiciels relatifs à l'imprimante (et l'impression) ne fonctionnaient pas !Mon imprimante : Canon MG5150 (n’était pas présente sur la liste de compatibilité officielle, donc je pense que beaucoup d'autres peuvent aussi être reconnues).LE GROS PLUS : La fonction NetUSB Mode permet de reconnaitre un périphérique de stockage USB (disque dur, clef USB), cependant, on ne peut profiter que d'une seule des 2 fonctions à la fois (NetUSB Mode ou Server Mode).

Acheté en début d'année 2015 pour relier un PC sous Windows et un MAC (ordinateur principal) à une seule imprimante.A bien fonctionné avec Yosemite (OS X 10.10) et Windows 8.1Passé sous El Capitan (OS X 10.11) depuis quelques jours ainsi que sous Windows 10.Fonctionne bien avec W 10 mais plus du tout avec mon MAC sous 10.11. Pas de mise à jour sur le site.Dommage car j'étais très satisfait donc de 5 je passe à 2 étoiles.

J'ai acheté cet appareil pour mettre en réseau mon imprimante.Installation facile et rapide (PCs sous W7, imprimante Brother). Il faut juste déclarer l'imprimante en "auto-connect" dans le logiciel d'interface, et on pourra "oublier" ce logiciel de connexion. Cette installation doit être effectuée sur chaque PC du réseau.Un tout petit peu déroutant au début : on ne voit pas vraiment l'imprimante en explorant le réseau, mais elle est bien là lorsqu'on veut imprimer, c'est le principal !Il faut aussi attendre une minute environ entre la mise sous tension (imprimante et serveur) et la première impression, sinon on risque un "plantage" du pilote du serveur (il faut alors redémarrer le PC).
