Works very well, from a seasoned user.
Two Parts - PRODUCT: I've used this for years as a low odor, safer way of bonding laminates in my professional shop. This type of work is fairly occasional, so I'm not speaking from daily use level of practice. NEVER had a problem with it working, so I do not understand another recent review from a professional saying it does not work. Best I can tell is his product may have been exposed to repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Weldwood indicates up to 5 cycles can be tolerated. Other WB contact cements cannot even be shipped to me in the winter, as it is dead after being frozen once. As for shelf life, due to my occasional use, can testify I've recently had success with a project, though the can had been opened / used repeatedly over about a 3 year span. The two gallons I just purchased from Amazon (locals only carry quarts) worked just as well as the old stuff I just polished off. So - as a professional , I have to side with those saying it is a perfectly usable product, provided instructions (particularly application temperature rules) are followed. Certainly not rocket science. Part two: SHIPPING. One Star. Both gallons had metal clips to retain lids = thumbs up. One gallon in a plastic bag, the other was not = duh? Add UPS game of kickball to the equation = BOTH gallons damaged, leaking. I let the box sit open for a day or two, and played a heck of a game of tug of war to peel the cans away from the cardboard container/plastic bag mosh-up. (further testament to the tenacity of this glue's bond..) Not worth the hassle to submit complaint/return to amazon - I had a job to complete, and felt no use crying over spilled glue. Yeah, I lost about a 1/4 cup from each can, but not enough to hassle over. Amazon cannot control a delivery system that thrives on piece count with little repercussions from constant damage done. Do not hesitate to buy. It really, really works!

Preferred over original formula.
I used this to apply wood veneer. I love it! It is non-flammable and low odor so I don't need to shut off my gas line and ventilate to use it indoors. It washes off with soapy water, as opposed to volatile solvents. And it has the same level of stick as the original. Only downside is it takes a little longer to dry before contact. I'll use this again and again.

Might work okay for flat surfaces, but anything that will endure stress will NOT adhere.
I was using this contact cement to adhere foam pieces together for costume and prop making purposes. I usually use a different brand, but as this was on sale I gave it a whirl and ignored the poor reviews. That was a mistake. If you’re looking for a contact cement that can handle stress (I.e. the pieces you’re putting together pulling away from each other, even slightly), this is not the cement you are looking for. I’m sure it would work alright if you were simply adhering two flat pieces against another that wouldn’t be stressed. However, I was adhering curved pieces and the /slightest/ stress would pull the pieces apart. Even the bonds that I considered “successful” could easily be pulled apart by hand. The glue then peels right off of the foam. I heat sealed my foam, attempted endless trial and error with different drying methods, layers, etc, but this contact cement was a total flop. The only perk is that it truly is odorless unless you shove your face in the can.

Low odor for indoor use.
I was looking for something I could use indoors, since this and most contact cement require temps in the 60s, and my garage was too cold. The others all have a strong bad odor to use indoors. I used this in the basement, and what little oder there was did not leave the basement. Totally manageable, and since it is not flammable, I did not have to worry about open flame of furnace. Easy to spread and bonded plywood (porous) + to laminate (non-porous). Reasonable price!

great water clean up and has worked well for me - no stink or flammable concerns.
I built a canoe and wated to glue in foam floatation. I used this stuff and it was great. Its been several years and the foam is still solidly in place. Its polyethylene closed cell foam blocks. This stuff is getting a little hard to find for me. I hope to use my new stuff to attach polyethylene insulation to fiberglass walls of a small remote cabin shelter I have. I don't want to be overcome with toxic fumes that so many other contact cements have.

Follow all directions & it's great
This stuff works great if you follow all the instructions. My first attempt yielded what some other reviewers describe: absolutely no adhesion after proper dry time. What I realized is that I had been working outside in temperatures in the 50s with materials that had sat in the garage overnight. The instructions specifically say that both surfaces must be at 65 F or higher for 24 hours. I took everything in my warm house for a couple days & gave it another shot and whaddayaknow- it worked perfectly. Very tight bond, just as advertised. I would suspect some of the 1 star reviewers may have overlooked the temperature requirements. Hope this is helpful to others.

Light Duty Hobby Projects Only
OK for light duty projects with ideally flat contact surfaces only. Adhesion setting times are not forgiving, allowing no leeway or variance. Also, not very effective on porous materials. Did not work at all on AstroTurf to plywood. The big advantage is it does not have the odor of regular contact cements and is easy to clean up.
