Real cinema camera saver, simple idea, brilliant idea. Seriously get a pack!
Trouble is with all the 'make to fit' rain covers from tradition manufactures is that as soon as you rig your cinema camera with ANYTHING, they do not fit. I have two different types of rain covers, costing £200-£300 UKP each, that I have not used because my heavily rigged/customised Canon C300 MK II will not fit.The CAP-IT! is basically a giant's shower cap, which fits not only my rig but tripod head, pan handle and grip extender. It takes 10-20 seconds to put on and is immediately ready to go to work.Last weekend I was filming arena polo, where they roll the surface between chukkas and the air gets full of dust particles when they do, after each phase I just turned the camera off and put the CAP-IT! Cover on, as simple as that!I would not feel any hesitation in using the CAP-IT! in the rain but luckily I have not yet had to. Being completely transparent is another major plus, as not only can you see and operate all the buttons but also check if any leaks are happening. If I had to, I would definitely use it with my camera in shoulder mode, when raining. As per instructions you just have to cut an opening where your lens is and then use the supplied heavy duty rubber band to the matt box or lens hood. I’ve actually tried it with my Canon EF 70-200mm 2.8 IS USM and a 4”x4” Vocas matte box and it works fine., I’m sure it would also cover a 600mm, the cap is that big. Actually I know it would cover an Arri BL 35mm rig or just about any Panavision with 400’ mags, possibly 1000’ mags. You can also cut a small hole for your EVF but actually it’s so soft and clear you can just push your eye to the EVF and probably get away with not having to, in a major down pour. The plastic is soft to the touch, clear and very light, I had it off and on my rig probably 8-10 times during the two days and it was still as good as new. Can you rip it, sure if you try or get it caught on something but general usage it will be good and is totally reusable. It’s great that you get three in a pack, so they will last a good while.I now have one permanently inside my camera/lens bag ready for emergencies!I’ll try and upload more photos as I use it.If there was a V2 version, then it would be interesting to see a slightly heavier weight plastic used and supplied with two bands instead of one, the second band being quite small to use with an EVF. I would pay more for a version like this.I do not work for the company, I just believe when a product works and is good, that it deserves praise.
