Framed Ink: Drawing and Composition for Visual Storytellers

have read about 30 pages so far, very good book.explains the fundaments and provides with techniques of composition.will update soon after i finish the book.there are lot of visuals and by just looking at the, you will get to know what the author is trying to say, however there are explainations in text.the tone is very colloquial as if he is in frint of you and talking to know which is very comfortable to read and understand the concepts.

The book arrived in a perfect condition. This is my first ever artbook purchase so the book seemed expensive but it is totally worth it!!It's a must have book if you're into storyboarding or graphic novel kind of thing, where you tell stories with your pictures. LOVE THIS BOOK

Awesome! Thanks to Amazon and the seller Cloudtail India Ltd. I got the book at an amazing price. The packaging however was not hard covered and that resulted in a significant dent on the bottom right corner. But still m happy with the purchase. It was a steal deal.One of the great books to have in your arsenal if you want to learn about the art of graphic storytelling. Because, seriously, there aren't many such. It's really an impressive book coming from 20+ yrs experience of the author with animation giants like DreamWorks and Sony Pictures. The author is an illustrator, an expert on visual storytelling and his instructions and technique in the book are quite powerful and compelling. You won't regret buying it.Design Studio Press publishes just so very beautiful and good looking prints.Thanks again!

I had been in two minds about purchasing this book for a long time, but I finally bought it after a bit of research online.The book is broadly divided into five parts:1)general thought on narrative arts2)drawing and composing a single image3)composing shots with a purpose (stills and motion)4)composing for continuity5)the graphic novelAll the chapters cover the basics of storytelling at each level. It's an excellent book for someone who is looking to start in visual storytelling mediums like comic books and even a bit of storyboarding. The author Marcos Mateu does an impressive job of tackling such a tough to teach subject in the most convenient manner. Shows a real mastery of hia skill.The images inside are beautifully illustrated in black and white inks. The print quality is really good. Overall a good value for money.Amazonas always did a good job of timely delivery and good packaging.

This book is great but why is it always the same that amazon orders are always defected .They will be either dented, folded Or torn, like the pages of this book

Definitely a "Worth it!" book.A friend and colleague (who is a very good artist himself) from Brazil, suggested me this book.And, I am glad I read it.It helps you understand so many basic concepts that beginners usually miss out. Must have.

This is probably the best book you can buy if you want to learn lighting and compositions. It doesn't matter if you are an Animator, 3D artist, Story boarding artist, Painter or a Comic Artist, this book will serve you well for the rest of your life.Marcos Mateu-mestre has put his entire life's experience in this book. You will become a better artist just by looking at it. The hundreds of beautifully composed illustrations do absolute justice to the artist.Highly recommended.

Great source of knowledge, worth buying

Fácil de entender, muy práctico y lleno con muchos ejemplos. Desde como entender las composiciones con "bloques" hasta elementos complejos como el color. Excelente para dibujantes de cómic, realizadores de cine, vídeo y fotografía.

Libro in inglese, disegni contenuti spettacolari. Si riesce a comprendere facilmente, in ogni caso qualche vocabolo lo si può sempre cercare su internet. Molto utile, sintetico e con tanti esempi. L'ideale se si vuol iniziare a comprendere i principi della composizione, un buon inizio!Consigliato!

Dificilmente, você vai encontrar um livro na área que cubra tão bem este tópico quanto este aqui.O único ponto que esse livro peca é na parte que ele explica sobre planos. É muito básico. No entanto, não se engane, não é algo que tire uma estrela, este livro é maravilhoso e, com certeza, uma obrigação na biblioteca de qualquer artista!Se você, assim como eu, é uma pessoa encanada com o estudo sobre planos, adquira o livro "The Filmmaker's Eye: Learning (and Breaking) the Rules of Cinematic Composition". É um livro que se foca somente em tipos de planos. Como o nome sugere, é voltado para cineastas, mas o que são os quadrinhos senão uma atividade que lida com narrativa através de imagens? Esse livro teve uma versão brasileira, e recebeu o nome de "O olhar do cineasta", mas virou raridade, chegando a custar mais de R$200 em certos casos.

I have many similar art books, some good, some not so good. This one is one of the good ones. It's not just pictures on a page with no explanation. There's probably as much page-space dedicated to example images as there are explanations. It goes in depth, but not so much you fall asleep from boredom. And it's a nice thick book too!Some art books I have will have extraneous mostly useless information, like interviews with various artists (which if I buy a how to draw book, I want to learn to draw, not read about some unknown artist's favourite flavour of tea). This book isn't about drawing as such, but how to lay out comic panels etc... Every paragraph of text in the book is related to the book's subject matter. I was very satisfied with all the good relevant information.Highly recommend this book!

Leo en las críticas que es un libro para "principiantes", pero es un error juzgar este libro por su mayor virtud: la capacidad de síntesis.La capaidad de dejar de marear la perdiz con teorías trasnochadas y explicar con gran claridad todo aquello que hará que tu dibujo y tu historia funcionen. Hay tanta información publicada y tantos autores que es una maravilla enontrar una joya tan esencial como esta. Se explica del modo más breve y eficiente posible, y deja toda la paja de lado para ir directo al grano. 100% práctico y memorable.Otra cosa: sí, está en inglés. No hagamos un drama de esto.
