I've been looking for a good quality cooling fan on a budget after my trucks fan stop working which caused my truck to overheat. This fan so far works great on my Ram 1500. It's keeping my trucks engine cool and has not overheated. It was easy to install and a great value. I recommend!

Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi (4th-Gen) Electric Fan Conversion
The Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi truck comes with an electric cooling fan for the a/c condenser and a mechanical clutched fan driven off of the water pump. My electric fan for the a/c cooler failed, leaving the cooling responsibilities to the mechanical-driven fan, which when living in Southeast Texas...isn't a good combination.I knew about the "clutched-fan to electric fan" mod that's very popular, and did a ton more research on the matter, and decided to make the mod. Basically, the mod is...the Ram 1500 V-6 truck uses the same radiator, but uses a single electric fan for all the cooling responsibilities. Since both the V6 and V8 engines use the same radiator, the fan mounts are identical too.I ordered this Dorman V-6 fan and pulled the mechanical fan and broken a/c fan out, and put the new Dorman fan directly in its place. The electrical plug is the one originally used for the a/c fan...same plug configuration, etc. It works beautifully!!! Before, my temp would climb to 217-219°F, and I would have to rev the engine while stopped, to keep the fan moving fast enough to keep from over-heating. Now, it doesn't go over 197°F!!Now, there are a couple of very important things to know before doing this mod. 1) Since the power comes from the a/c evaporator cooling fan circuit, it will only be energized when the a/c is turned on. So, you must leave the a/c powered on. 2) The exception to #1 is changing computer settings using a tuner, like the Diablo Predator 2 tuner (sold here on Amazon) to change the temp for when the fan will turn on.I have not needed to use a tuner...my a/c is powered on year-round. However, I probably will, at some point, purchase a tuner and make that change, while also making other mods to the truck's computer.There are plenty of YouTube videos that document the steps for this mod, and a novice can do it without too much effort or know-how. I'm happy with the mod and I'm very happy with my Dorman fan!!2022-08-30 update:The electric fan has operated flawlessly! I did use a Diablo i3 tuner to program the electric fan to be operational, independent of the a/c circuit. I have set the fan to turn on when coolant temperature reaches or exceeds 190°F. So now, I can turn the a/c compressor off, and the electric fan will still come on when needed. It's a beautiful thing!

No more clutch fan!
2009 Cammed Dodge Ram 1500. Brings down temperature way faster and performs way better than my old clutch fan did. Best value being as new good fan clutches are around $60-$80. Isn't too loud. Mounted up perfect and plugged right in. Looks great!

Clutch Fan Delete - 2012 Ram 5.7L Hemi
Had to replace the water pump on my 5.7L Hemi so decided to drop the thermostat from 203 to 180 and delete the clutch fan. This fan is a direct fit on radiator and uses all the same mechanical clamps/bolt holes and lines up perfectly with the electrical connector as well as the top radiator hose connector. Super easy swap. The only recommendation would be to buy a piece of flat bar and drill a couple holes to hold the water pump pulley in place while you break the mechanical fan loose. If you’ve got some miles on your motor, trying to just apply additional tension to the belt is not strong enough to break it loose.This fan performs very well. Being from Texas I was nervous that it would not keep up in the summer. Hottest this motor has gotten is 198F with an ambient air temp of 100+F for weeks.Any power gains from losing the mechanical fans’ parasitic drag are negligible. Gas mileage is slightly less since the swap. I swapped my thermostat at the same time so I’m thinking the lower temp is responsible for that but will review again once I swap the thermostat up to 190F.Couple of points about the truck. 5” lifted 4x4 Outdoorsman. This fan delete wouldn’t be recommended if your wheel a lot. My truck never sees much off-road but pulls heavy trailers regularly and the fan keeps up well.Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the fan swap and now have a ridiculous amount of space in front of the motor!

YES it works!
Installed this on a 2013 RAM 1500 5.7. Deleted the clutch fan and installed this in place of the factory electric fan. Running a 180 thermostat. Used Diablo programmer set fan temperature to 192. Electrical plug fit perfectly no wiring extending or plug swapping. Plug and play!Temperatures running 185-190. No more annoying clutch fan noise. There is a noticeable decrease of drag while driving. You can hear the fan when you shut the truck off spooling down if you listen closely.I’ll update of changes in a week if any. So far it’s definitely worth the money. Super easy install.Update 7/29/23Still working great, fuel mileage has increase roughly 2-3mpg. Highly recommend.

2012 Ram 5.7 clutch fan delete
Installed this Dorman e-fan along with a 180 degree t-stat a few weeks ago and no problems. I have a custom tune from Greene Racing to control the new fan, which turns it on at 190 degrees and keeps it around 185 in 80 degree weather. The fan is a bit loud but that's because it moves a lot of air, eventually I'll get used to it and won't notice it anymore. Installing the e-fan itself was a breeze as it drops right into the factory e-fan's location brackets and bolt holes line right up, plus the electrical connector plugged right in without having to extend it. Removing the clutch fan was the hardest part, but I used some WD-40 and it eventually broke loose without a way to hold everything from rotating.As far as noticeable power increase/response I noticed some throttle response and little more power in the low rpm range but that is in combination with the new custom tune and new Magnaflow muffler, so I can't say how it'll effect a truck with stock tune. Plus I have a custom camshaft so it's hard to compare to a stock truck. But I will say it's worth it to get the extra room in the engine bay and lose that rotating mass.
