SILKY SCENTS Amber Essential Oil (Pinus Succinifera) 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade, 5 mL

I'll give a more in depth description of this essential oil, below, but the summary of what I think about this oil, is that it is definitely a nice smelling scent of "Amber," if that is what you are interested in. However, as I will describe below, "Amber" is the name of a scent; it is not and actual essential oil that is distilled from actual resin or actual fossilized tree sap.I'm a man, so this review is from a male's perspective, and as a guy, I'm not afraid to admit, that I've always appreciated really good smells, whether they are the smells of colognes, and essential oils, and I consider myself to have a discriminating sense of smell.I was looking for an excellent, high quality, proper, Amber essential oil, and after reading the Amazon reviews of this particular Amber oil, I decided to try this version. And thus far, this oil is a nice version of amber.My personal favorite essential oils are the resin kinds of oils, such as Dragon's Blood, Myrrh, Amber, and Frankincense, but I also really like Patchouli and Clary Sage, and Nag Champa and Sandalwood.Furthermore, I will update this review as I continue using this Amber oil, but for now, I will say, that it really does seem to be of very high quality, and below, I will offer my description of what this oil actually seems to smell like, for those people who are not familiar with this essential Amber smell, and who are wondering about whether to spend the money on this oil:The smell of Amber is similar to some of the resin-based smells, and thus, and it is therefore, somewhat similar in smell to two of the other most common resins: Frankincense and Myrrh.However, contrary to popular belief, I have been learning that Amber is not actually a resin at all. Here is what the website fragrantica.com says about Amber:"The smell of Amber is actually a smell that is a combination of benzoin, labdanum, and vanilla; relatively precise measurements have to be made (three teaspoons benzoin, ¾-quarters teaspoon labdanum, and considerably less than ½ teaspoon of vanilla).Amber Essence is an alchemical blend of sacred oils, powders and resins that is sensually enticing, calming to the mind, and helpful in preparing for meditation or contemplation. Amber was originally created as a mood–enhancing formula by an ayurvedic physician, but quickly found its way into popular use as a natural perfume. Amber essence usually contains the following ingredients: Amber essence extract, premium dark amber extract, sandalwood CO2, rock-rose resin (just another name for labdanum), patchouli essential oil, vetiver essential oil, sunflower oil, and jojoba oil."So I was not surprised to learn that, because after smelling this particular Amber essential oil, I definitely, and immediately, discerned the smell of Vanilla, which is something that I will describe more about below. Furthermore, I just wanted to mention all of that above information, because like a lot of other people, I, too, thought that Amber essential oil was actually distilled from Amber sap or resin.Furthermore, in terms of the strength of the smell of this particular oil, I would say that it falls into the category of "medium to low strength." It is not in the category of "high" or "strong" smelling, such as Dragon's blood, or maybe even, Frankincense.For those who know about essential oils, though, that should not be a surprise, because Vanilla is known for being a very mellow, low to medium strength smell, unlike the citrus smells. A furthermore, this particular Amber oil recalls the smell of Myrrh, and Myrrh, as well, is also a more "medium" to "low" strength smell.There is a fairly complex fragrance profile to Amber, and as many other people have written in their great reviews of this oil, this smell does slightly change as the oil oxidizes in the air, with time, and with differing body temperatures, air temperatures, and body oil factors, etc.However, for me, Amber smells like an amalgam of other resin-based essential oils, while have some sweeter smell characteristics that those other resin-based oils do not have. I find that the base, primary smell of Amber, smells similar to Frankincense and Myrrh, but that there is a subtle vanilla and brown sugar smell that is combined with that primary base smell of Frankincense and Myrrh. And when I say vanilla, I am referring to the smell of pure vanilla extract, which is used for cooking and baking.Dragon's Blood, on the other hand, has some citrus smelling qualities that Amber does not have, and furthermore, Dragon's Blood has more of an overt, obvious "Spice" quality in its overall profile. Amber is somewhat less of a "Spice" smell, and is more of a dark " Sweet Musk" smell that is similar to Frankincense and Myrrh.Imagine if you took smell of Frankincense and Myrrh, and mixed them with the smell of pure vanilla cooking extract and brown sugar -- then you might have a replication of what this particular Amber oil smells like.Having stated all of that, I am still not sure if I prefer Amber oil to Dragon's Blood or Patchouli oil, because those are also really excellent smells -- but I will definitely be keeping Amber as part of my permanent collection of essential oils, and I plan to routinely wear it on my skin, clothing, and around my various parts of my house. It is a must have oil for any essential oil collection, in my opinion.Regarding the actual quality of this particular product's oil and bottle:As other's have stated, this oil seems to be of a very high quality, and it is dark brown in color. The smell of this oil seems to easily last ten hours or more, when I wear it on my skin and clothing. Furthermore, I think that the actual bottle that this oil comes in, for the one-ounce size portion, is a perfect bottle. I have had some bottles in the past, with other brands, which had plastic caps that would break, or which would not close the bottle opening tight enough. And I have also had essential oil bottles in the past that would distribute the oil far too fast. But this bottle has none of those issues. It distributes the oil perfectly, one drop at a time, and the plastic bottle cap fits very tight around the bottle opening, after it is closed. Furthermore, the glass of this bottle, is nice and dark brown in color, which should help prevent the potential for sunlight damage to the oil's properties.If you are still unsure about whether to purchase this oil, I recommend reading the other reviews of this oil, because I found that they offered very accurate reviews of this great oil. I am actually surprised that this oil is not even more popular than it seems to be. This Amber essential oil could easily replace a man's cologne, and for the small amount that is needed, a one-ounce sized bottle will last a long time.Thanks to this company for producing such a great oil.

This stuff is super powerful. I pressed the top of the bottle to my wrist and did a quick upside down motion so it would only do one quick dab and all I can smell is amber...but that's not entirely bad. It smells AMAZING. I wanted something that smelled like the amber resin that I've had for 30+ years and it has nearly the exact same smell. t's probably due to the strength of the oil that it rings a little untrue.I'll probably dilute this with a base oil because it's fine to be this strong at home but it's entirely different in public places. I can't wait to try it in my diffuser.

This smells like a highly scented perfume oil, not a natural essential oil. The scent reminds me of the 1990’s Spellbound or the even older Shalimar – woody, musky. Okay if you like that kind of perfume (think old lady-ish and very, very strong). Keep in mind scents are highly subjective. I do not personally like this kind of perfume scent. It is nothing like other “amber” named scents I have smelled – fragrance (manmade) oil or essential oil, or otherwise. I love natural essential oil blends that are typically called “amber” – think frankincense and vanilla. This is not that scent. I would iterate that this is more to point a perfume oil. It smells high quality (even if I do not prefer the scent), but a perfume oil nonetheless.

A wonderful, deep, rich scent that avoids that "baby powder" smell fake amber perfume oils have. Great alone or mixed with other scents in perfume. Goes really well with "woodsy" scents like sandalwood, cedar, and Peru balsam. Third or fourth time I've bought amber essential oil from this company and I've never been disappointed.

I was hoping it was a nice blend like an oil I had in the past. Not the case at all. Gave me a headache and made my stomach churn. It is so strong, too strong. Not sure what it's actually made of. Amber Oil is typically a blend of specific (and expensive) oils that make up a magical scent. This is not that. It reminds me of an old lady wearing way too much perfume. At first I tried it alone, the teensiest of dabs, I mean I barely let the oil touch my finger and it was incredibly strong. I couldn't wash it off fast enough. I tried diluting it with a carrier oil hoping it would smell better, but that didn't work either. I tried using it with other scents as well. Super disappointed. I knew it was too good to be true.

I love this amber scent!!! I had bought some at a renaissance festival 20 years ago, and fell in love with this sent. I haven't been able to find it with this smell since. This is it!!! I am truly happy. Anything else I tried always smelled "old lady-ish". This is earthy and soothing. Lasts a very long time, and takes only less than a drop.

I am very excited to have finally found an oil that literally smells just like a hunk of solid amber resin, instead of some flowery, bad imitation perfume version of amber which the marketplace seems to be saturated with, unfortunately.This is the genuine article, and sure to please any genuine amber fragrance enthusiast.

This essential oil has a great vanilla musk smell that is just intoxicating. Love it and would definitely recommend if you are looking for a sweet musky scent but don't want patchouli.
