I bought these to use under my painting projects (watercolor and acrylic). These serve the purpose I bought them for: protecting my work surface from drips and spatters of paint. They are very thin and don't look or feel as though they'd be absorbent, so I don't know if they'd be helpful for a bigger spill, if I knocked over my paint water for instance, but that isn't what they were purchased for.EDIT: I have been using these, and though they are very thin, they do prevent liquid from going through. I can dry my watercolor brush off on this, and it does not go through. I still don't know if it would absorb a big spill, but for some wet messier painting, these are great. I will often use a second one to wrap around the pages in my journal, leaving only the one I'm working on exposed.

They are not water resistant definitely bleeds through instantly and ones wet rips very easily

Got these for my gel nail hobby and they protect my workspace and control the mess of glitter and filing and make cleanup much easier. They were such a bargain and now I use them for lots of other crafting and home projects. Especially helpful with things that are sticky, wet, or oily so they they seep onto your surfaces. Not insanely absorbent, but the backing helps control seeping.CONSIDER CAREFULLY IF YOU WANT BLACK! I got them for nails and have noticed the occasional black fuzzy speck. While these aren't particularly dusty or fuzzy, they are mostly a paper product, so you can expect the occasional mote of dust or speck-might not be a problematic in other colors,
