worth it! best camping pad ive found. (NO BACK PAIN)
i love camping. i really do. i hate 'sleeping' when i camp... because i really cant sleep. i have to limit my camping trips to 1 or 2 nights because i will get 2 or 3 hrs of sleep and its miserable tossing and turning and lying awake at night wanting to sleep but not being able to. if you're the same way, read on. (read on even if youre not)this is the ONLY camping pad/mattress ive slept on where by the next morning ive had absolutely NO BACK PAIN. and that is saying A LOT for me. even my 'best' one can leave me with some minor aches and pains (which is still a far cry better than almost all the other ones out there). i have only used this indoors (cause its still winter), but i always test my pads indoors before i take them out camping and they always perform the same indoor/outdoors for me. i sleep on a Casper memory foam bed and i wont say that this mattress is like sleeping on a bed because...well.. its clearly not a bed, but maaan, it sure is close!!! seriously!i usually toss and turn as i try to fall asleep and its from side to side, so i spend a lot of time on my side. but when im actually sleeping, im on my back. so i need mattresses (and camping pads) that work for both side and back sleepers because i hate waking up with pain/major soreness in the lower middle back and sore shoulders/hips. this mattress has me waking up with ZERO pain. i was/am really amazed. i had totally given up on finding a camping pad/mattress like this.last summer i spend a LOT of time trying to find a good camping pad. i think i got 4 different ones, kept 1 for 1 of the kids, returned a couple to amazon and landed on a really good self-inflating wellax pad. and it did pretty good job. honestly, i thought it couldnt get any better, ouside of a big old inflatable bed.. until i got this one from camplife.there are 2 sizes and because im 6'4" 260lb i went for the twin size. i couldnt believe how big it was. this brings me to my first point of review. this is big mattress. even the single is going to be big simply because of its thickness. but its TOTALLY worth it because of how comfortable it is. this "camping pad" is definitely more of a mattress than a pad and because of this (see pics) it is NOT a backpacking camp pad, its a park-at-the-campsite-and-take-it-directly-to-the-tent-camping-pad. by the same token, it is NOT really a self-inflating pad either. its just really good memory foam pad that will roll up. sure, you can roll it up a little tighter, but when it's as big as it is, its really silly to try too hard. just accept it's going to be a bulky item and enjoy its comfort.the corners have velcro patches where you can attach other pads. and this i think is my BIGGEST BEEF with the product. the hook patches of the hook-and-loop (velcro) used are not covered with anything and snag on everything: clothes, blankets, and even pretty abrasive on the skin if you happen to rub against it. since ive only used it in the house so far, i will be careful around my sleeping bag and make sure it doesnt tear it. ill either just stick an old sock to it to cover it up, or dig out some old velcro strips and put the loop part on it.there was absolutely no off-gassing or smells from this product which i found pretty surprising (and i have a sensitive nose). the extra cover is pretty cool; it comes with a blue and pink cover and the pocket seems superfluous, but its a perfect place to put your cell phone and other small things that will inevitably get lost in the chaos, that is the tent floor, while camping (especially with young ones). the carry bag has 2 very adjustable straps so you can wear it like a back pack. certainly useful if youre walking a bit before you need it.ive attached some pics to show size and whatnot. the bed shown is a king, remember when you see the pic of it on my back that im 6'4." ive got a pic next to my other camping pad showing size and height/thickness. it looks different, but they are basically the same thickness.i stuck it on my bed to get it out of the way one day and just left it there when i went to bed... wow, what a great night's sleep! it also works VERY WELL as a mattress topper! whodathunk?i highly recommend giving this camping pad/mattress a try, if you can deal with its size, its highly unlikely you'll want to return it. in fact, you may come back for a second one. (i know my wife is eyeballing mine! lol)**edit 7/14/2021ive taken this camping a couple times now this summer and it has performed perfectly. just like it did in my living room floor. both times i had ZERO back pain, not even a little discomfort. absolutely love how it performs. the downside is that the bag that holds it is not stitched well (only single stitching on single layer of material), and it tore on 3 of the 4 spots. of course after the first tears, theres that much more pressure on the others, so the others went pretty quickly. the bag definitely needs some 're-engineering,' but its still worth the buy. especially since given the size of this thing, youll be using it almost exclusively for drive-up camping and wont need the bag to haul long distances.

My back is thankful for this new camping mattress!
I'm super excited to try this single mattress out on an upcoming *car or drive-up tent camping trip! It's going to take the experience to a new level of luxury and comfort! And when you camp in the middle of winter in the Pac NW, anything that brings you a little extra comfort is golden. This is also going to be so perfect for guests that sleepover!*One thing that's not necessarily a negative but warrants mentioning so that others can make a realistic assessment of whether it works for their needs: It's not compact. I was surprised and laughed aloud when it arrived in the most monstrously large box. I'm 5'4", and carrying the mattress within the provided nylon bag, I was comically dwarfed by this thing. See the first photo for perspective. So, I'm not going to be taking this backpacking. BUT, doubly surprising was how super lightweight this mattress is for its size! So even if I had a backpack on or other bags to carry, I could lift and transport this a short distance with zero effort. Read my recommendation at the end of this review for conserving some space to store or travel with this mattress.Initial loves: It comes with two easily removable, washable covers! (Most camp or cot mattresses on the market just have one.) The fabric on the tops is so silky soft, like velveteen. Mmm. The internal foam is also a good blend of supportive and soft! At only 2.5 inches thick, I admit it had me worried I'd sink in deeply and feel the hard floor beneath me. I didn't! The foam is a little on the firmer side, yet not unforgiving - it didn't cause pressure points on my body whether I slept on my back, side, or stomach (I do all three). Also, I have chronic back/hip/glute pain, which was not at all exacerbated by sleeping on this mattress without any cushioning underneath. I slept 9 hours on it the night of delivery, on a concrete floor, and felt as comfortable as on my 7 inch bed mattress. For comparison, at this point in time sleeping on a 3 inch inflatable pad leaves me unable to get a full night's rest and my back is quite angry the next day. Also, my thermostat is set to 62 F, and even sleeping directly on top of a slab of cement, this mattress insulated me from the cold floor! One last plus is that the straps to roll it up are sewn right on the mattress, so there's no chance of misplacing them.If storage space for you is limited, here's a tip I discovered: Rolled up, this mattress fits perfectly in an XL vacuum compressed bag and shrinks down small enough to slide under a bed, into the linen cabinet, or into a suitcase for travel (as shown in photos 2 and 3).

Love it! Used regularly for a year straight.
I love my camp pad! The memory foam is thin enough to roll up easily, pack away and carry around, but thick enough to provide comfortable support when sleeping on a hard surface. I am around 145lbs and feel like the thickness of the memory foam supports my weight well. I cannot feel the ground beneath the camp mat when lying on my back or stomach with my weight evenly distributed. I can feel the ground through the camp mat at my hip and shoulder when lying on my side on rocky ground, but not enough to feel uncomfortable or sore. It makes a huge difference! My first use was for a camping trip and I was thrilled to have this alternative to an air mattress or sleeping directly on the ground. It felt like luxury compared to the rough-style camping I am used to. It got damp, so I left it unrolled in the spare room to dry out for a few days. During that time, my cat declared it was now his new favorite enormous bed, so I left it there a while longer for him to enjoy - he was an old man after all. I tossed some blankets and pillows on it and set it up like a day bed against the wall. Kitty and I would sit and enjoy some tea and reading time on the comfy camp-mat-turned-day-bed.Long story short, it is over a year later and I am just rolling this mat up to pack for a future camping trip. I see now that you can velcro them together, so I might have to get a second to go for the king-size-camping-luxury dream. Highly recommend!
