The Art of Beatrix Potter Hardcover – January 1, 1972

I remembered this book from college, more than 40 years ago. It was such an entrancing book to me that I decided to hunt it up and try to buy it. My memory did not deceive me. The book is every bit as wonderful as I remembered, the pictures ones I will go back to again and again. To be honest, the text has not gotten as much attention, but it is interesting and informative and I'm sure will be eventually read as well.

There is only a tiny number of sketches in this book, many I have seen online already. The newer books have much better quality reproductions of her botanical paintings. There is very little writing in the book. It seems that the trust in charge of her work is very stingy with what they are willing to share in books on her work. Apparently the only way to see her work in any meaningful way is to get permission to view the originals where they are archived at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

This is a gift and is an excellent bio and illustrations of Baa's life and work.

This book is a treasure for anyone who loves the work of Miss Potter. There are plenty of pictures from her childrens' books, plus beautiful nature studies, still lifes, landscapes and more.

Leslie Linder is without doubt the oracle of Beatrix Potter. What she doesn't about B P is not worth knowing. I have several publications by the author, and I seriously doubt if anyone could hold a candle to her. This is just another fantastic insight into the world of B P. Will grace any book shelf.

This really is a beautiful book. Such amazing art work by Potter. Not just the famous childrens stories but other art work she is less known for. Pictures i've never seen before - gorgeous close up work of fungi and insects. Highly recommended to anyone who loves the work of Beatrix.
