Raquel!

Raquel ! is a pleasant tv special in the vein of Nancy Sinatra's "Movin with Nancy" in that it all takes place outdoors in beautiful locations vs the tv soundstages that were typical of tv specials back then. David Winters,the choreographer for Nancys' special does the same task here . Raquel however, is not as talented a singer/dancer as Nancy and Winters hides that with his choices of film shots. ( He also produced and directed ). Raquel Welch is at her peak of physical beauty here and Bob Mackie did a fine job of dressing here. No denying that she is hot and very photogenic. Tom Jones sings a duet of old rock songs with Raquel thats one of many highlights in an uneven,yet entertaining tv special. Bob Hope and John Wayne each do some comedy sketches with her and remind us that she can act well. "Raquel" isn't the masterpiece that "Movin With Nancy" was,but its still worth watching.

This DVD is a gem! You have to see these videos to believe it. You have not lived until you see Raquel Welch dance and “sing” (most of the tracks were re-dubbed with a better singer’s voice but it does not take away from the beauty of these awesome videos filmed all around the world including the Mexican pyramids) to the greatest songs from the late 1960’s & early 1970’s! What a talented, beautiful and smart woman - one of the world’s all-time greatest beauties and sex symbols! A must have for any Raquel Welch fan!

THIS TV SHOW WAS MADE TO SHOW CASE A MORE TALENTED AND HUMAN RAQUEL. IT'S BEAUTIFULLY PHOTOGRAPH, FILMED ALL OVER THE WORLD. .RAQUEL NEVER LOOKED BETTER. BUT YOU FEEL LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING MISSING.MUSICAL SPECIALS FROM THIS TIME PERIOD, SOMETIMES, WERE A LOT OF FLASH..BUT LITTLE HEART.I THINK THIS ONE FALLS UNDER THAT CAT. BUT A MUST HAVE FOR THE STARS DIE HARD FANS. RECEIVED THE DVD IN JUST A FEW DAYS

Raquel! is a treat: the vintage 1970 special doesn't skimp. International sites abound. The opening segment for "California Dreaming" shows a hazy, late 60s Paris to great effect -- lots of wide shots of incredibly beautiful city landmarks. Of course the scenery no matter how beautiful comes second to the star, whose gorgeous face, magnificent body, openly sexual style and ok voice are front and center. I first saw Raquel Welch when I was a young boy and I must say even at a proto-pubescent age I was greatly effected by her beauty and willing and enthusiastic role as a sexual inspiration. She still makes my heart race. The corny scenes, complete with '60s "modern" trappings, are priceless, like the hilarious costumes worn by the dancers in the "Aquarius" segment. Speaking of costumes, Raquel's take every opportunity to show off her great legs and her bountiful breasts. What a show.

I remember this show from when it was originally shown on British television, and have never forgotten the talent that is Raquel Welch, which was so far more than just her figure! She can sing and dance wonderfully, and is a very funny actress as well.The sketch with Bob Hope is a classic, shame it didn't last longer. A gem of a show from the days when stars were intelligent, could sing, could dance, and when material was actually funny, and suitable for a family audience! Great buy!

Definitely don't take this too seriously. Watching this give you the impression that the director was high on LSD the entire time. If it was anyone else but Raquel this would be mind addling. Just turn off your brain and you'll have a good time.

This DVD was very informative and brought out many little known facts regarding the stardom of Raquel Welch, covering pretty much all of her pictures and showing her off screen persona in interviews and with other mega stars.

Here is Raquel Welch back in the 1970's in all of her grace and charm. For she can really make people say "wow' . Because she had a lot of talent and there is one sketch where she was with John Wayne and that helps out anyone looking to add in their own John Wayne DVD collection
