Family Guy - Blue Harvest [DVD]

I am a huge fan of Family Guy and also Robot Chicken too, both series have produced star wars parodies and Family Guy's offering is quite exceptional.The casting of Family Guy characters into famous Star War Roles like Stewie as Darth Vader, Lois as Princess Leia and Peter achingly funny as Han Solo in my view is sheer genius. Each scene from Episode IV of George Lucas's masterpiece is given a funny makeover and each joke just fits in so perfectly, everything from links to modern culture to a simple mickey-take which always gets a big laugh.The animation quality also is absolutely stunning, a huge leap compared to what you usually see from these people in the regular Family Guy series, but it is hard to notice that as you spend most of your time just laughing out loud at all the catchy gags.Overall i dont feel that it is as good as the Star Wars specials produced by Robot Chicken but that is not a bad thing, this is still excellent entertainment, I for one cannot wait for the next Star Wars offering out in December 09.

Blue Harvest was a great addition to my Family Guy dvd collection.I have watched it more than any of my season dvds and I would recommend to a friend...and i did so when i bought it for my friend who will remain nameless at christmas he never stopped talking about the comedic sketches that are in this feature length episode.A treat for my friend and me.A classic addition to Family guy's vast empire.Great and worth buying!I believe everyone worked a bit harder at the studio in the US for this episode and I enjoyed that.So I bought Something Something Something Darkside (Blue Harvest 2) from Amazon and it was even better than the first.It is my friends favourite episode overall making it a pretty decent DVD.It is also his most watched DVD and it is cheap so this set is great value too.Coming soon "we have a bad feeling about this" (return of the jedi)

Better than the film IMO

You'll probably already know that 'Blue Harvest' is the original Star Wars recast with the familiar faces of Quahog.It begins with a subtle dig at The Simpsons. When the TV is not available Peter sits down to tell the family a story (a la Homer), declining to expand on the details of Meg's birth, Peter instead tells the story of Star Wars.Then begins a string of gags and parodies ranging from Tom Baker's Doctor Who materialising in the swirling lights of hyperspace to Meg's brief cameo as the garbage pit monster.It's all as funny as you'd expect from Family Guy but my one major gripe was that, at 45 minutes long, you really don't get much viewing for your money.Nevertheless, I look forward to the promised sequel; 'Something, something, dark side.'

How does Seth Macfarlane continue to produce animated comedy of such epic proportions? He knocks one out of the park with this parody of Star Wars: A New Hope. I watched this 5 times on the day that it arrived and have watched it many times since. An absolute gem from the people who also made American Dad. Make sure you buy this dvd, along with the sequels that will soon be gracing our tv's, computer screens and dvd players. This is a must buy for any fans of comedy and anyone that doesn't take Star Wars too seriously, namely anyone at Comic Con. Enjoy!

Much watch family guy episode, absolute classic.

You really only need to watch this one of the series of 3, the two follow-ups are lame and unimaginative. They put a lot of effort into this one. Awkward sideways humour throughout, it may not make you laugh uproariously but at least it has you thinking and reaslising there was a lot of strange logic in the original. The concept has been distilled down into a few running gags, like the orchestra, the discarded sofa, and the absurdity of the aesthetic design flaw in the death star.

This film thay were finding their feet. The 3rd in the trilogy is better

Received as new, sealed.I use Movie Buddy to keep track of my movies, when I scanned a sticker barcode on the outer cellophane Movie buddy said "Scarface"??When I took off the outer cellophane and scanned the barcode on the sleeve, it was correct. The movie still had the original long sticker across the top of the box.We enjoyed he special features as well, the interview with George Lucas was good, George seems to be a really good guy.Of course, the movie was hilarious, duh!

They did a great job on this Star Wars parody!

For the Star Wars fan. This is a great one to see The Griffin family play the parts of Star Wars.
