BDFS8MC Window Film Security and Safety 8 Mil Clear - 24in X 24ft

I ordered this back in April 2020, and just installed it yesterday. I procrastinated so long because I dreaded the installation process (partially based on some of the reviews). But once I finally got to it I found out that it was actually extremely easy.First off, this stuff is thick and fairly rigid, but crystal clear. I sort of expected some kind of distortion whether it was blurry or you could see waves through the plastic, something like that - but no! This stuff is literally invisible once installed.The package came with a page of outstanding color instructions on thick stock, an excellent squeegee with a felt protective covering on one end, and a decent snap-off razor blade tool. The instructions have a URL to the company's instruction page where they have a few very professionally done instructional videos. I read all the instructions and watched all the applicable videos.When it came time for installation, I set up the area to work and staged all the supplies. The one thing I did that deviated from the instructions (based on a couple of people's suggestion in the reviews) was to carefully measure and precut the film to the size of the windows. The instructions have you leave an inch around the entire border and use the razor and squeegee as a guide to trim the edges to the window. However, this film is so think I think it would be very difficult to trim while holding it against the window pane. If you're careful measuring and cutting, you can get it to fit perfectly. I used a framing square and a dry erase marker to mark the cut lines and then a sharp pair of scissor right on the line. When I placed the film against the window, it slipped right into place. The rest of the install I did exactly like the instructions and it went perfectly.I also purchased some high quality clear silicone adhesive to seal the edges where the film meets the frame. I am told that doing this will make the window almost impenetrable. Without it, the window will stay together, but may come out as a single sheet where the glass breaks away from the frame. The sealant I purchased was very strong and should hold the entire piece in the frame making kicking it in very very difficult. I hope it never gets tested.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and will definitely be buying more from this company in the very near future!

As a widow living in the country I was nervous about some issues I had been having in regards to trespassers at night. I started looking for ways to beef up security that were within reach for me financially as well as feasible for me to install myself. Found this window protection film and it fit the bill to a tee! It is good strong quality. Goes on easy with just spray bottle water application and the included squeegee. I had no problems installing all by myself and with relative ease. Product is clear, not transparent perhaps but I was pleased with the results and the peace of mind knowing my downstairs windows are less easy to break into is worth every penny! HIGHLY recommend!

I've installed window tint before, this is much thicker and much more difficult to work with. I am a very handy person, I followed directions perfectly, and watched the install videos. The 8 mil is very thick. Videos of install show trimming the edges very easily, but my window is recessed in french door about 1/4" and therefore almost impossible to get edge in corner tight enough to trim in place. First window went so bad, I ripped it off while wet and threw it away.Second try, I cut it to fit exactly (not what directions say to do) and it went much smoother. I sprayed and squeegeed the crap out of it, but where some of the water solution was squeegeed out, it left these weird imperfections. The directions and videos say don't worry, it will dry up and be clear. Well, its been over a week and they are still there. NOT clearing up. I'll give it another week and then its coming off and won't be installing on any other windows.I gave it 3 stars because its thick and probably works great for safety and security, but the install is difficult and beyond most peoples capability and leaves spots kind of like bubbles. This really distorts the vision and makes the window look dirty all the time.

Likes- Fast shipping, well made film in a easy to dispense box. Really makes your window strong! Looks good if you get a smooth adhesion. Spotty, streaky if you don't keep it wet all the time.Dislikes- For the 8 Mil clear film, the Installations tips and squeegee provided need improvement. By cutting 1 inch over-sized all 4 sides, the squeegee is not Heavy duty or Thick enough to force material fully into corners or edges. Also, more emphasis on spraying the facing side should be made to keep the squeegee from making marks or streaks into the film. Great product.Squeegee flexes and bends too much with 8 Mil film. I'm sure it would be ok for 4 Mil. Also, For my next window with 8 Mil, I will try to cut it as close to exact size first. Then set the Left edge & work across top corner and Left side. This will avoid trying force really thick material into 4 corners. It absolutely would not lay down without being set flush on one side. I may replace my first window later after I see how the warm weather makes it settle.

I used this product to help protect my sunroom windows. There were no instructions on how much “wetting” is needed, and no warning on how to remove marks on the film once it is lifted to correct a bit of the installation. I found this to be a giant “no-no.”the product may be great, but installation is not.

It is essentil to clean with a microfibre cloth then vac off all dust particles that maybe present and invisible from the. eye.Then cut and spray film and let it rest for a few minutes. This way the glue will spread more easily. Other wise you end up with glue patches that don't dissolve. Also if you don't vacuum the window you will have little particles on the window that will produce bubbles around each particle.This being said it is a really good product and much better then the filimsy cheaper products plus a big security asset.
