I just got a can yesterday and I love it. Full disclosure, I'm not using it for engine parts or per the manufacturer instructions. I'm making a prop replica of a raygun (long story) and wanted a very specific finish. If you're looking for that look on plastic then this couldn't be easier. It looks just like old mid century military bake on paint like was used on ships and helecopters, ect also found on old metal cameras a lot for some reason. Best method I found was to apply heavy coats waiting 5 minutes in-between (like they say on the can) but then imediatly drying them with a hair dryer until they wrinkle. It's very fast and provided excellent results. It came out super even and looks just like what I wanted. Like a professional did it. I'm not sure if it's as durable as the manufacturer stated method but it seems to be pretty tough. So if anyone is interested, yes, this works on plastic beautifully and will have many purposes beyond engine paint. I could see this working for model war ships, airplanes, guns, you name it. If you're a maker or model builder I can't recommend this highly enough. Everyone who's seen it so far has been gaga for it. Plus, once you dry it to a wrinkle it's dry, no rediculously long waits. Just thought I'd mention. Thank you VHT. I know it's not what you intended for your product but regardless you now have a repeat customer for life.

This paint was easy to apply and easy to achieve the retro look I desired. The directions are specific, you must read them. It requires a couple coats with a short 5 minute "flash off" dry time between. It was easy to achieve a moderately heavy coat without sags and runs, but, if you have little experience with spray paint, its a good idea to practice before tackling your precious project. A first timer will always have trouble with runs and sags. The nozzle gave me more control than the average rattle can. I give this product a thumbs up. The directions don't really cover oven curing for metal parts. I have plenty of on the job finishing experience so I used our oven to speed up the wrinkling and curing process. Open windows fans help with the paint smell, there will be some paint odor needless to say. After the freshly applied paint coat has air dried (minimum of 30 minutes), This allows the paint solvents to off-gas safely. Its ok for the paint to begin to wrinkle. Then I bake it in the oven at 150 degrees F. for approximately 45 minutes. Since it is a kitchen oven with little venting, I open the oven door briefly every 10 minutes to let remaining gasses escape. Turn the oven off to cool, do not remove the part while still hot. At this point the painted part is cured and durable enough for handling and assembly. Without oven curing you should give the finished part 24 hours before handling. Most plastic parts can't tolerate heat without warping etc.

This is the best wrinkle finish paint I've ever used. But be advised, this stuff takes FOREVER to gas off. The item I painted almost a week ago is still sitting outside, and still very fragrant. I hope to bring it inside one of these days.
