Any chance that the files from this camera will ever be editable in Lightroom?

Yes, LYTRO ILLUM exports batches of tiff files which are editable in Lightroom and can be re-imported back into Lytro Desktop 4.0 for viewing and presentation. I am a Lytro Employee.

Why is there a focus ring on a camera that's supposed to be able to shoot without focusing?

The short answer is that there is a limit to the range of focus of the picture within your scene, depending on how close you are to the closest subject and the zoom setting. This is explained in detail on the Lytro web site in their instructional videos.

I shoot random events around town & sometimes as a backup at weddings, would this be able to replace my dslr? i have a full frame canon 6d.

The main advantage in your case is that it shoots at f/2 speeds without the main disadvantage of shooting f/2... short depth of field. I haven't had an slr for a long time but I remember the importance of depth of field. Artistic considerations aside, too much (f/22) and you have to slow down your shutter and get blurs. too little and everything except your focused area is blurry anyway. Lytro brackets focus (7 times apparently) in every exposure and all 7 are at f/2 (always). So you'll get reasonably crisp well lighted shots with depth of field. The trade-off is a drastic loss in pixel resolution, ok for screens but not printing.
