Mighty MuleMM136 Intercom System

My customer needed a back gate intercom to work wirelessly from the main building to about 400 yards away. Once we’ve installed it, it worked intermittently due to poor reception. We ended up modifying the antenna with an extra coax ran down the fence. Ultimately, it’s a well-built product, and I believe it would probably work better with less things in the way however, we were stuck with what we had. We were using wireless walkie-talkies to check the signal and make sure it worked. The walkie-talkies work perfectly but unfortunately, the intercom was still a bit staticky. Ultimately we got it to work enough to be able to use it, but I wouldn’t suggest this over an extremely long distance. It is, however a well-built product. I can’t speak on the ability to open a gate. We only wanted it for intercom usage only.

This keypad is about 250 feet from the house. The intercom works ok, it is not "Crystal Clear" but is understandable. After not being able to figure out how to get this to pair with the gate controller, I called support at Mighty Mule they said ...To get it to work with our MM372W we needed to order a FM135 single button remote. You need to then set the DIP switches in the FM135 and MM136 so they match. Then pair the FM135 to the MM372W then the MM136 will work. So if you get this and your remote does not have 9 DIP switches in it you need to order the FM135 too.

Although this unit is easy to install the instructions for supporting alternative power is not clear or accurate. Instructions to complete installation for 2nd and 3rd receivers does not work for the units I received and already had. Called support and they couldn't make them work either.

I added the mounting post. Together the wireless receiver worked from 350 feet. No problems with the install or use of the pair.

Easy to install and enter codes. Advertised 500’ and my house is 400’, cannot communicate with door closed but worked fine once front door is opened.

This works OK until the temp drops into the lower 30's, then the keys don't work right. Even in warm weather you have to push hard and slow on the keypad.

I could not upload my .jpg file, however; here are my thoughts. The MM360 series has been a blessing. I own a large ranch that required additional access control & security. The gate control works beautifully complete w/ solar charger. The wireless intercom & keypad control work perfectly in all conditions at a range of just over 100 ft. from my gate to my office.I would recommend Mighty Mule to anyone who needs access control. It is reasonably priced and gets the job done. It is easy to install and does not require a great deal of time to set up.

I’ve been using mighty mule gate openers for 15 years. This is the first time I’ve had to replace keypad. Not a bad investment every 15 years. Range to our gate is about 250 feet. No problems with communication at that distance. It would be nice if mighty mule built in a motion alarm. But I’m quite happy with their products.

Says works up to 500ft.Past 100ft it drops quality drastically and won't communicate with the intercom unfortunately.
