No, they are not black beans. Regular ranch style beans.

Q: How long is the shelf life?

Each can comes with a "Best by" date , so the shelf life varies from batch to batch. For example, I have a couple of cans left from a large order on October 6, 2018, and the remaining two cans have a "Best by" date of August 2020. Hope this helps.

Q: Are these vegetarian? What is the natural flavor listed in the ingredients. I know sometimes it’s spices and other times it’s animal.

Contrary to what others are claiming,I cannot find any animal products listed in the ingredients. Nevertheless, they do taste far too good to be vegetarian stuff so you might want to avoid these just to play it safe.
