ifi micro idsd BL comparisons
I purchased the ifi because of positive reviews but mostly because it offered so much versatility, so apart from it's obvious use as a headphone Amp/Dac, I would also be able to connect it to my main speaker system via the RCA output, which is switchable between line level or preamp. Also, I can input the feed from my CD transport to the ifi.Shortly after I received the ifi, I visited a hi-fi dealer to audition some high end headphones, so took the ifi with me for the demo and was able to compare the sound to a Chord Mojo and a Blu Sound Node 2i. I would say the sound was very much like the Mo-Jo but better than the Node 2i. While the Mo-Jo is cheaper and has a nice 'feel', it is not nearly as versatile as the ifi, while the Mode 2i doubles as a streamer. On the negative side, the ifi is probably not the most 'pocket friendly' device around as it's quite thick, fairly long and a bit heavy. So not ideally something for 'on the go ' unless you have a backpack. Of the three, the Mo-Jo is the only truly portable option.I use the ifi connected to a Mac Book Air running Tidal, and I am very pleased with the sound both as a headphone amp and as a DAC into my main system. The X BASS switch does add more body to bass light headphones and some thinner sounding music. Cant say the 3D switch has a major effect though. So, a well put together, versatile and great sounding bit of kit.

Great DAC, but overpriced
This is a great portable amp/dac with loads of functionality. But I think it is just too expensive for what it is. If you just need a portable DAC, take a look at the Topping NX4, which is a whopping 450 quid cheaper, has a better quality DAC in it, powerful amp that will drive anything, and is smaller. I think the price on this needs to come way down to make it a good value compared to other options (like in the 200-300 range).

Expensive but sounds fantastic
The sound on this amp is amazing! The bass boost (I normally hate these) is the best I’ve ever heard, subtle but adds another dimension to bass lacking recordings. More power than you will ever need for ANY headphones and packed with features.Sound is very clean and detailed with tight punchy (Not booming) bass.It is a bit on the pricey side though compared to the £300 mojo which I like equally for it’s melodic yet powerful grunting/growling music presentation.

Close..........but
This amp sounds great, the separation and clarity are stunning. Unfortunately I've had problems with two units in less than two months. The first one I bought, one of the switches broke the day after I got it and it had to be returned for a refund, which Amazon sorted out without question. The switches used have round buttons supported by an insanely thin stem of plastic and are entirely unsuitable for every day operation. Even with the knowledge of the poor switch quality I had to have one of these and purchased another unit from Amazon a week later. After six weeks of very careful use the second unit failed. All I could get out of it was a red/blue flashing LED and sometimes nothing at all, totally dead. I checked the manual and a red flashing LED means dead battery. I knew that was not the case because it has never been used on battery power, always powered by USB, so maybe a problem with one of the power circuit components? Amazon were great and agreed to refund me without any drama. At a price of £599 I'm very disappointed and would not recommend iFi products due to poor component choices and reliability but because of just how good it is when it actually works and is not falling apart I still give it 2 stars.

Wow! Just Wow!
This has got to be the best DAC on the market. The sound is awesome. Coupled with my Sennheiser HD600 headphones, this is the best sound I have heard out of a Laptop.I tried a few other DACs, but they couldn't drive the Sennheiser HD600s.This one can. And how! Your ears would cry "Uncle" long before this little beauty ran out of oomph!Yes - it's (very) expensive, but worth every penny to me.A great product.

Sounds excellent but it's a pain in the +_:@ to work
This piece of kit is sometimes talked about as a bit of a Swiss Army Knife to audio solutions but it's not a practical unit in my opinionThere are too many settings on it's underside that aren't so easy to access to help you evaluate whilst in playback modeI also found that the switches could move/change if you moved the unit the wrong way - not idealDo not overlook the sound of this thing though -it does sound excellent but I also had driver issues with it so I'm afraid it had to be returnedI was generally pretty disappointed as sounding great is super important but practical use of i.e (putting sound shaping switches underneath) - needs a review of it's button layout

Must buy for a serious listener
Outstanding value for money, this box sounds thrice its price. The sound signature is quite neutral and the soundstage average in size and natural/realistic.Clarity is outstanding, high end studio level in my opinion.Overpowers the HD600s with ease at medium power.Plenty of juice for literally any headphone.

Massively Overpriced - not that good
I was absolutely shocked at how bad this is relative to its price (not to mention it didn't work properly as a DAC).
