Amazing
Used this for a propane forge air flow valve. Worked amazing for said use.

Serviceable valve!
I bought two of these valves 3 years ago to have a way to shut off water in my hot tub so I could do maintenance on my heater without draining it.They worked great but develop a small leak last winter while drained. Tightening up the screws didn’t help so I ordered 2 more and swapped out the gaskets and center section. These are way better then the one piece valves that you can’t maintain.

Easy to use valve gate
So easy to use. Had one that turned before. This is hands down so much better. Great product!

Poor quality control
Like some of the reviews here, Valtera has terrible quality control. First unit I installed leaked out of the top cover. No way to return it to Amazon. Had to buy another and pull the center valve. Fortunately that one did not leak. Absolutely no way to test them prior to installation. Valtera should have a “no leak guarantee “

BUT!!!!!! the inches given mean the GATE aperture, not hose size.
Even pool people who do plumbing scratch their heads over this one: when buying a gate valve (also called knife valve) for a certain size hose, do NOT go by interior or exterior hose diameter when ordering: has nothing to do with the sizing. The 2", as best we can figure, refers to the water path inside the valve. The hose size required for this valve is much larger than 2". Valterra is an excellent brand, durable when buried under snow and ice and very good seal---but apparently the sizing conventions for this type of valve are very different than what the lay person would expect. 2" is printed right on the valve, so this is not a mis-listing. Just know that does not refer to the hose size!

They're a great alternative to ball valves
They're a great alternative to ball valves, especially in the larger sizes due to their much lower cost. There are a couple things to note though:1. They aren't really intended to throttle water flow, They work, but may slowly close on their own due to the weight of the valve itself.2. If the water has any debris in it, it can settle into the bottom of the valve seat/slot, preventing it from fully closing. This can be anything from a non-issue to a major problem if it's the main drain valve on, say, a large fishpond.3. They're only intended for low-pressure applications, like pond drains where the water is at most maybe several psi.4. Mine have been fine, but I've read that they may drip slightly even when fully closed.Update: I have to retract my statements a bit. Yes they're cheap, yes they work, but they end up not sealing completely, if that matters. With them fully shut, they still let through enough water that I wouldn't want to leave it in that condition. So summed up, they're a good choice, but only where they don't need to someday provide absolute shutoff.

Quality gate valve
I purchased several of these to be used in a feed-storage project at my small farm. The valves are easy enough to open and close that my children can do it, which is wonderful. I don't know how they would be at holding back a liquid, but they work well at keeping the grain where it belongs until we open the valve. There are some minor issues with closing the valves once the grain is flowing, but that has mostly to do with not being used for their intended purpose. (Some grain material gets caught in the seal.) But they still close solidly, even if the gate doesn't quite make it fully into the seat/seal.

Beaucoup mieux que l’original
Ces valves étant démontables, sont préférables à celles d’origine qui sont soudées.

Garbage
Bought 2 of these to replace 1 in my tub and have a spare. Put 1 in the join where the handle goes in leaked. Drained the tub put the other in just incase i got a defective one. It did the exact same thing but worse. Leaked all over the electrical. Don't waste your money on this crap.
