ORIVET Dog DNA Health Screen

I have only had wonderful experiences with Orivet Genetic Pet Care and cannot recommend them enough for all pet related health testing!I am a breeder of Pembroke Welsh Corgis & American Corgis. Orivet testing is 100% accurate for my breeding dogs with reasonable timing receiving test results. I was suspicious when the website asked what type of dog I was testing. Wouldnt they know from the DNA results?Well, already paid and took a cheek sample, so I trusted in the process. My dog breed wasnt listed in the list of pure breeds, so I selected one of the breeds that makes up my breed, which in this case was a dalmation. I have a pure bred Dogo Argentino. I just got the certified DNA results back and they are saying my dog is 100% Dalmation. Really? The two breeds look nothing alike aside from the dark spots. Not accurate at all. You will be wasting your time and more importantly, your money.Unbelievable! And....the test results took a month to arrive. WOW!

Todo bien con el pedido, llegó en el tiempo estimado. Hace una semana envié la muestra al laboratorio y estoy en espera de los resultados. Actualizaré cuando tenga los resultados. Por ahora muy contenta con la compra, el laboratorio te mantiene al tanto a través de emails de cómo va el proceso de tu test.

So glad I got this before breeding my dogs. It tests for breed specific problems. 2 of my border collies came back positive as carriers of CEA (Collie Eye Anomoly). This was crucial, because if I had bred them 1/4 of the pups would have had CEA. I also tested a Border Pap and he was clear and I will be using him as a stud. Thanks Orivet! PS. Can’t beat the price and also shows colors the dogs carry.

Was very excited about results. I was scared because I thought it would be hard to get results but they sent me results within a few weeks. I even have the traits of what color my dog would carry for her future puppies. She's a 5 year old and passed everything. Also I bought another one for my other dog.

Notice:Orivet is sending tests to Australia adding to the delay of test results.The issue at hands seems to be occurring across DNA testing brands/services providers, though.Regardless, sent tests 11/16/2020, but no resulted.

Test was simple & easy to use. Instructions were easy to follow. There were several emails letting me know the status of my test & a countdown clock for when my results were expected.

My dog's breed is not listed (Havanese), so I had to select Bichon in order to submit sample. When I contacted them to ask why was my dog's breed not listed, they never provided me with an answer. So when I reviewed the report, the only information that was provided was health. The report only listed clear for all health issues and nothing else. For the fee that they charge, it's untrustworthy. If they can't accurately verify my dog's breed, than it defeats the purpose of trying to be preventive for the possible illness listed. It was a waste of money.

Great product arrived in time

There was only a couple of options for what I was needing - so I picked one. Finding out later I needed a breed specific DNA test for a pedigree dog.The one I purchased was general - and may not be targeting some breed specific issues I will need to know about.
