You. Need. This. Game!!
Hands down the best game we’ve gotten in a long time!! I especially love the fact that you can play a shortened version (using only one color) or a long version (using all 3 colors). You can also hide them as easily or as hard as you want to. My kids love it and I honestly do too…I can stay in my recliner with a glass or wine or continue to talk with friends, also with a glass of wine, all while spearheading a game. Or not! I can also pawn it off on one of my older kids to lead. And by older, I mean anywhere from 4 or 5-100. Perfect for the mom who wants to do it all and be great but also knows her limits and realizes the importance of ‘me time’.

Such a cute game to get kids up and moving around. Easy for littles to understand while still fun for older children too!

great for working on language
What a great game! I am a speech language pathologist who works in the school system. I have students of all ages with a variety of disabilities and language deficits. Walk Like a Chicken is a fabulous game for working on language skills. I have modified the rules to fit my students. Students who have difficulty with receptive language (comprehension), we put all the tiles in a bag and draw one. After telling them what it is, they get to act it out. For my expressive language kiddos, we do the opposite. They draw a tile and then take turns acting it out. Think charades and the other students can use their language skills to figure out what the one acting is doing and then verbally tell everyone what it is. For the students who are working on pragmatics, they practice taking turns, following the rules of a game, coping with changes when we use the tiles for other things such as metaphors and similes. The possibilities for this game are endless. That is one of the things I love about Walk Like a Chicken. Educationally, the game is simple enough to be modified to find anything I need from object identification to more abstract language. Pros: the tiles are big. Much bigger than I expected which is great for little hands to hold onto. There are objects and animals that I hadn't thought of such as bats which are perfect for increasing vocabulary and overall knowledge of the world. My only con is that there is only one of each card in the set. Matching is a simple game that can be used for a variety of purposes and you can't play it with the single game. While I say that is a con, it has also made me, as a therapist, branch out and figure new and innovative ways to engage my students to use this game. That is another pro. I did receive this game at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review, however it in no way affected my feelings about the product. My opinions are mine and mine alone. Please give me some feedback by marking my review as helpful. This helps me in providing quality reviews.
