2 stars because I didn't like the paper color
2 stars because I didn't like the paper color. It was whitish instead of the off-white color generally used for books.

Great African literature
Arrow of God is one of Chinua Achebe’s books that I enjoyed a lot. In fact, it is just as good as Things Fall Apart, if not better. The story is based on the exotic traditional village culture of the Igbo nation in Western Nigeria. It is one of the African best literary works I have read. Achebe took us into Ezeulu's changing world and did what few writers can do- make us understand it all. It reminded me of other traditional African stories such as Usurper and Other Stories, Matigari, Our Sister Killjoy. Through these stories about Africa that I enjoyed reading, the authors gave the reader a fascinating insight into the continent and are likely to make lovers of African literature many of the readers.

This is a powerful tale which is an excellent extension to Achebe's first novel Things Fall Apart. Use of the Igbo dialect is a bit difficult for those unfamiliar with it but Achebe finds a way of clarifying what is meant without pandering too much to the non-Igbo English reader.A tale about arrogance and narrow-mindedness on both sides - colonial and tribal.

Le malheur que la colonisation britannique amena en Afrique (ici au Nigeria) dans les années 20, vu ici par Ezeulu, prêtre igbo et chef de six villages. Un beau livre amer.

Its Chinua Achebe! I expected nothing less than a masterpiece. Indeed it was as I expected. It was beautifully written. If you want a novel, you can't pass on this one.
