Los Chileros Blue Corn Flour, 12 Ounce

This was just what I was looking for — toasted blue corn flour with a delicious nutty flavor. Perfect for pancakes.

Clings to the bag upon opening. At first I thought this was insect webs, like another reviewer said. But I think the plastic is just high in static. Like others have said, it's corn meal, not flour. It isn't quite as tasty as Ramona Farms parched (roasted) corn meal, but that's an unfair comparison. This product is still good, and I'll probably buy it again.

It would be better a bit more finely ground. I used it for corn bread, which turned out okay. For me, it's not an improvement over good yellow corn meal (like Bob's Red Mill gluten free medium grind), but just as good.

Although advertised and labeled as "blue corn flour", this product is NOT a flour. It is a fine grain corn meal. Useful for some products, but not as a flour.

The product package was properly sealed. Upon opening, it contained what looked like spider webs. I showed it to a friend and she said there was also what appeared to be a larvae. Of course I can't get a refund. I wouldn't want a replacement!If you are looking for blue corn flour on Amazon, try Just About Foods Organic Blue Corn Flour when it is back in stock. This corn flour can be combined with pine nuts and made into delicious, savory pancakes. Recipes abound online. If you like Southwestern food and if you have ever tried these pancakes while in New Mexico, this corn flour will not disappoint. It can also be made into delicious cornbread and muffins.
