Magic Cleaning Machine Worth Every Penny
I got my new Miele four hours ago. I just spent three and half of those hours vacuuming almost every surface in our house. This thing is magic. Background: Husband and I both work long hours, we've got two Maine Coons, and we're remodeling an old house. On top of that, I struggle with both ADD and depression, so I have two speeds - either EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE or constantly sleeping - and cleaning is not always a priority. Needless to say, between cat hair and sawdust, our house is pretty gross most of the time. When I bought our Dyson Animal five years ago, it was the most expensive thing I'd ever purchased. I did a ton of research and read all the reviews. Immediately out of the box, I hated it - it has a tendency to blow dust AWAY from the nozzle - but I figured I'd give it some time and maybe I'd come around. Lately it's had zero suction despite my best attempts at cleaning it, and when my sister said she loved her Miele, I figured I'd check it out. This was not an easy purchase. This thing costs more than my current vehicle. It is worth every penny.Where my Dyson was an apathetic beast at best, the Miele came out of the box fully assembled, licked its lips, and proceeded to devour debris in corners I didn't know this house had. My couch actually changed color. (Apparently it was covered in drywall dust.) The Miele sucked sawdust out from between the joints in the wood flooring. It ate half a rug before I figured out how to adjust the height on the power rotor, and once I had the setting corrected, sucked an OLD STAIN OUT OF THE RUG. I had no idea that was possible. Cat hair disappears into its predatory maw. The last time our floors were this clean, the contractors were putting swedish finish on them. The Miele is QUIET. Our apartment days are behind us, so noise isn't so much an issue, but holy hell is this nice. This vacuum powers up like something out of Star Trek, with a gradual quiet hum. Even on its highest setting, it is quieter than our microwave. I could hear my cell phone vibrate on the coffee table while I was vacuuming the living room. Husband came in and actually asked, "Is it on?"PROS: Everything. It's quiet. It's LIGHT. I think my laptop is heavier, but despite being easy to haul up the stairs, the Miele doesn't feel fragile; after years of growling every time the Dyson's telescoping handle collapsed in on itself, the Miele feels incredibly sturdy. It cleans like a dream - with two longhair cats, there were enough dust bunnies under the couch to knit a sweater, and the Miele didn't even blink, just slurped them down like nothing. It's incredibly agile - it follows you around like an attentive dog, ready for the next task. I love the onboard tools - no more scratching your head trying to remember where you last saw the crevice attachment. The adjustable suction is amazing - I was able to vacuum the heavy-duty door mat, and then turn around, adjust the suction, and vacuum the curtains without pulling them off the wall. The range of motion on the tools is also incredible - I was able to vacuum around the couch legs and under tables without having do do any painful contortions. The air in the house SMELLS cleaner, and even after three hours of vacuuming, my throat doesn't hurt like it usually does. When it comes time to empty the bag, I can just lift it out and throw it away - I won't have to deal with dumping a canister of aerosolized drywall and cat litter into the garbage can, blowing back in my face no matter which way the wind is blowing. (That alone is worth a thousand dollars, let me tell you.)CONS: Costs about as much as your firstborn, and possibly also your leg.Overall: This is literally the most expensive thing I have ever purchased after the house itself, and oh my god it's worth it. As a remodeler, I understand the value in having the right tool for the job, and this vacuum just earned its keep. Four hours in, and I regret nothing. This is going to make cleaning SO MUCH EASIER and you can't put a price on that.UPDATE 11/26/2019It's been four years now and I still love this vacuum. It's been a study little workhorse. Sometimes I am terrible and too lazy to get the shopvac, so I feed construction debris to the Miele. Clogged nozzle aside, it doesn't even blink. The motor runs as quietly and efficiently as the day it arrived. It has a few scuffs and battle scars, but none of the plastic pieces are broken. I regularly change the bag and the filters, and purchased a new brush attachment because because the bristles had gotten too worn on the old one, but otherwise baby is always good to go. 100/10.

Great Vacuum!
So far, very pleased with the vacuum. I researched for quite some time before making this purchase. I have the C3 Cat and Dog in Lotus White. The machine feels well made overall, some plastic areas could be made a bit more robust. The suction power of the vacuum is very strong much more so than the Shark Stratos that I was using. The SEB-228 power head works very well. If it shuts off on you while vacuuming, that means your setting is too low. Raise it one notch up and it will continue to work. We have two miniature Aussies that shed a lot. This vacuum worked very well on the rugs and removed most if not all the hair. Keep in mind that the first time you use this vacuum on a rug that you will possibly see a line of hair where your stroke ends. That is because it is cleaning deeper and pulling out all the old embedded hair. Just make a couple extra passes and it will clean it up well. The Parquet tool is great on hard surfaces. Very maneuverable to get into nook and crannies.I prefer the SEB 228 on carpeted stairs vs the mini turbo brush that comes with it. It just gets the job done quicker and more thoroughly, but is slightly awkward due to its size. However, it does a great job.The sound of this vacuum is very quiet. I’ve never owned a vacuum this quiet. Almost deceiving because the power of the vacuum is so strong.Maneuverability is easy. It’s a little more difficult on carpet but very manageable.Additionally, hair is easy to pull off the roller if it’s stuck in there. There is also a groove to fit scissors to cut off any stuck hair.Attachments are good and the bags and filters keep everything clean and smelling good.Great vacuum overall. I recommend it!

Strong but defective vacuum
Powerful, quiet, versatile. Probably will not use the large beater brush head a lot but it will get some use down in our rec room where we have an old nylon rug that could use a deep cleaning. Upstairs where we have mostly laminate and area rugs I don't use that attachment. I tried the parquet twister on the floors and that's fine but I have so many low pile area rugs that are difficult to vacuum with that attachment that I ended up ordering another attachment that has a retractable brush that I can use on all of my laminate and area rugs without issue. The extra attachment was overpriced I thought but it works pretty well and except for the fact that it's kind of flimsy, there isn't much to it and it comes off of the extension on the hose when I try to use it under something, it's fairly easy to vacuum with. Would I buy the Miele C3 Kona again? Yes, in a heartbeat. One other plus is that the vacuum itself is light enough I can easily transport it downstairs if I need to as well as bring it back up the stairs. I do still use my shark stick vacuum for quick clean ups in between my weekly deep cleaning with the Miele. By the way, the upholstery attachment is amazing. I don't think my furniture has ever been this clean! PROBLEM CAME UP AFTER A FEW MONTHS: Discovered the dust bag full light did not work & result was a dust bag "blew up" inside the vacuum, somehow the bag holder was damaged & I had to order a replacement for it. Still, in new bags the round blue seal DOES NOT stay shut so I am having to keep the hose attached to the vacuum all the time now for fear dust will get blown all over my house. Complicates storage. I now wish I had never purchased it. A whole lotta money for a defective product.
