PS3 Media Hub +

I purchased this to complement my Playstation 3 console. It is well built, and comes with 2 adapters: one for the 40 GB PS3, and one for the 20,60, and 80 GB PS3s.I think the adapters are mis-labeled (the labeling is molded into the actual adapter). I struggled to get the Media Hub to lock on to my system with the 40 GB adapter, but when I tried with the other adapter, it clicked right into place. The adapters have two small nibs that "lock" the media hub into place on the PS3 by way of the front air vents.The Media Hub brings the total number of USB ports on my PS3 to four. With the 40 GB PS3, the media hub can only be plugged into the LEFT USB port. It molds perfectly with the PS3 face, and can be used when the PS3 is in the vertical and horizontal positions.The only thing I would suggest for Nyko to improve is that the matte black finish should be gloss black to match the finish of the PS3. It's a minor quibble, but would improve the aesthetics of the unit. Also, the Media Hub only "adds" the capability for two additional USB devices, not three. The 40 GB PS3 has two USB ports. Adding this device brings the total to four, not five (since one of the existing USB ports is taken up by the device).It is a very capable USB hub and card reader.

I was deciding which USB hub to buy when I saw this. $15 is way more than most USB hubs, but this was a really elegant solution to the USB port problem. Not only does it hub the left USB port into 3 more ports (giving you a total of 4 ports), it also adds an SD card reader. The less-obvious benefit to this gadget is that it moves the ports out to be flush with the front of the PS3, instead of being inset by an inch or two under the front edge. This makes it much easier to plug things in quickly.The only con I have is that it does not clip in as securely as I would have liked. It comes un-clipped quite easily and seems flimsily attached. I may use a piece of double-sided tape or velcro to make it stay more securely. Overall, it's a great product and well worth the $15 pricetag.

I bought this because I have the 40gb PS3 and needed to not only charge my controllers but have a place for my thumbdrive. This thing has made my life alot easier, not only giving me the ports I need but bringing them up flush with the front of the device. Since my PS3 is on the bottom shelf of my entertainment center it was a bit hard to reach the usb ports without sprawling out on the floor.Anyhow, my only issue was with the device having a bit of a loose fit. I was worried I might damage something accidentally so to fix this I just added a peice of double stick tape to stop the wobble and all is well.A well deserved 5 out of 5.

I was excited to see this product announced a month or so ago and immediately pre-ordered it. It came in two days ago and after playing with it for that amount of time, I can say that I'm extremely happy! Not a flaw with it.It fits so nicely against the PS3 frame that it looks like a part of the design. The finish matches the PS3 black mat just fine unless you shine a light directly on the unit, at which time you can see a subtle difference in color.The adapter snaps firmly into the vent holes underneat the USB ports and comes pre-configured with the 40GB adapter for the ease of most consumers (most purchasers of this will be 40GB PS3 owners). In fact it snap so easily into place I didn't even notice it happening, when I tried to remove it I could not until I figured out it had "locked in".The card reader also works great and adapts to several different types of memory cards, but mostly I use a media server or thumb drive to put media on my PS3, so that's not something I will use often.My PS3 purchase was for two reasons: Blu Ray and RockBand, so I figured I'd get the cheap 40GB one. When I got it home and saw it only had 2 USB's and no card reader (as opposed to the 80GB version) I was a bit upset, but my fault - I should have done better research. This hub has completely solved the problem in an attractive way while adding memory card functionality to boot - my powered USB hub with a crappy dongle has been officially retired!If you have 40GB PS3 and find yourself wanting a memory card reader, or more USB ports, this is the only thing to buy!

It snaps onto the front of your PS3 (but not the newer Slim model, I'm sure) and looks like it belongs there, adding two USB ports (not three, since it replaces one) that work good. I had used other USB hubs to try to play Rock Band with a full band, and sometimes the hub would work and sometimes it would drop out in the middle of a song. But this one stays working all the time. If you tug on the cables as you unplug things this might come loose, it doesn't snap in as firmly as you might like, but it's easy to push it right back into place.

This allowed my PS3 to jump from two USB ports to four. It fits great on my PS3 and looks like it should be there. I bought it because my other USB was taken up by my  PlayStation 3 Blu Wave Remote  that I use to allow my  Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control (Black)  to control my PS3 for movie watching. I have not tried the card reader yet, but if this is like the other Nyko products I have used I am sure it will work well.

The product essentially gives 40 and 80 gigabyte ps3 owners 3 more usb ports and SD card and memory stick slot. Of course, i have no use for the SD card/memory sticks since i don't any of them, but the usb ports definitely eases the failures of Sony's stupidity of only including 2 usb ports on the latest models of ps3. I definitely recommend this product to those looking for more usb ports on their ps3 or SD/Memory card slots

I have more USB for my PS3. The price was a little high but I find it to be worth it.

Does the job, been using it for years now.Does occasionally come unplugged from the PS3 when you are unplugging the USB cables from it. Just need to hold down with one hand on the hub to keep it in place whilst unplugging any cables.Shame they don't come in white to match my white PS3

Accesorio recomendable para aquellos que posean una PS3 "Fat" con sólo 2 puertos USB, pues con él obtendrán 3 puertos extra (aunque perderán el primero de los puertos USB de la consola debido a que dicho "Hub" se alimenta mediante éste) y un lector de targetas "SD" y "Memory Stick". Además, por su diseño y color combina perfectamente con los modelos "Fat" negro piano de PS3.
