CobraCo 6000-SM Plant Sitter Automatic Plant Watering System

It's probably my own fault but the soil under my plant totally dried out. This thing worked ok for a while but it nearly killed my plant, granted I was just using it every day as I have two jobs so it was just easiest for me to leave this thing as the main source of water. Well the roots ended up growing all out of the soil and stuff so the plant had to be totally repotted. I saw recovery in the leaves almost immediately.This thing is probably best for temporary use for small plants.It was hanging on the pot btw and the lid doesn't stay closed because the plastic is so thin the hangers push the lid off so as far as that is concerned that would be something to potentially try to improve.

I bought four of these. The cords are extremely long for a reservoir that hangs off the pot. I have these for my window box (it is a metal box that I have clay pots in.) After a day, two of the four reservoirs were completely empty of water. The tops on those units won't stay closed, so that is what I think is wrong (quicker evaporation?). All the plants seemed to be drooping on Day 2, so I checked the reservoirs and tubing. I inserted the entire tube into the reservoir. I didn't know if the water struggled to go up and down with the cables outside the pot and reservoir. I will be monitoring the changes I made to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, it looks like I will be returning these and go back to watering my pots by hand.

I bought this item with high hopes that it would help watering when I was on travel and or those extra days my plant needed some extra water. I looked at it as being life support and a plant sitter to my Spathiphyllum aka peace lily. I received the package on time, and it was shipped and packed well so no complaints there. I followed the instructions as directed. I soaked the sensors in a cup of water, and then filled them with water as directed. I ensured the hose was loose and kink free since kiknks would equal a malfunctioning water delivery system.I monitored the water levels in the reservoir, and didn't notice a difference. I left fate in the plant sitters hands. I then used a moisture tester after a week, because the water reservoir had not decreased and my plant was looking wilted and just plain sad. A test confirmed my plants soil was not just looking dry, but was actually dry. I was so disappointed because what I thought was great invention rather failed to keep my gifted plant sustained. I had to nurse the plant back to health.At this point I am no longer interested in troubleshooting the item, and thus away it went to the trash before I knew there was a customer service number to call.

This company needs better quality control. I ordered three of these and whoever is packaging this product obviously does not care about the job they are doing. Out of the three, one was complete. One was missing the dripper assemble completely. The other was missing the white weight at the end of the tube. I made it work with a different weight. I've ordered a replacement for the one missing the dripper.

First of all, I ordered two units and one was missing the the dripper stake so I have to go through the hassle of sending it back and getting another one. So poor quality control. Secondly, the unit is made from very cheap components that do not justify the price. I am not price sensitive but I hate to get ripped off. The unit - especially the tank is poorly constructed. The lid simply will not stay down. There is no effective way to make it stay closed. It looks looks like it is supposed to sort of snap shut but that doesn't work.The hose coming from the stake is pinched too much to allow water to flow. There is a notch on the top which is supposed to prevent this but it doesn't. So with 10 being the best, I give it an 8 for concept and a 2 for execution.

I realized I had purchased a peice of junk when they arrived and the manufacturer had TAPED the lids down b/c they wont close on their own. I followed the instructions. Filled the insert with water, filled the resevoir with water. Closed the lid and hung it on the plant after inserting the probe into the dirt. ( Oh the lid doesnt close but that wouldnt matter if it worked). 3 Days later my 2 baskets of petunias were on deaths door and the water had evaporated a bit into the air but was not watering my plants. My biggest regret is purchasing 4 of them instead of just one.

This is a great item. The amount of water it holds is enough for maybe 1 week of watering my indoor (4ft) Ficus at work. The big selling point for me was that the clear reservoir gives me an instant indication of whether I need to water or not.My little tree was dying because I would go away for the weekend having forgotten to water it, and it's pretty hard to kill a Ficus like this one. Once I put it on this plant life support system it recovered extremely quickly, and is now actively growing again.I also bought some extra plant sitter sensor/drippers. If I need to go away for an extended weekend or vacation I just use a few extra containers and spread the sensors between them so the plant has adequate water. It drinks from them all at roughly the same rate.

Bad quality control. Didn't function as intended.
