The XPETI Thermador boots work great for walking the dog in ice and snow. That's exactly what I bought them for, living in NE Ohio. Waterproof, warm, good grip from the knobby sole and tall enough to prevent snow dropping down inside.

If you want to wear thick socks you can try to buy size 14

Q: Is this good for summer hiking ?

I live in Texas and always wear them hiking even in 100+ degree weather. They're definitely warmer, but they're so darn comfortable that I don't care.
