Amazing camera for the size and price!
The setup, the image quality, the size and the price of this camera is amazing! I've run dash cams for many years and this one is by far my favorite. Exceptional footage, even at night time. The plate reader has come in handy a few times already and I've only had this camera for about a month. And the phone app works very well with the camera. I can't say enough good things about it. I highly recommend this camera. Also, the anti glare lens that comes with the camera is also amazing at reducing unwanted glare from your dashboard and anything else that makes for bad images.

Works as expected
I purchased on Prime day for $99, which I thought was a good price to get my first dash cam, 4k no less. Seems to work well, and I use the app to view the videos. A little learning curve on the different options, SD card specs, and WiFi operations. App is decent. Unit is nice and small, 4k video looks good after using for about a week. I did a basic install, routing the cable in my in my truck. The unit does get pretty hot and feels like a hot potato if you hold right after prolonged use, but I know it’s the super capacitor for the high res. I used on 100+ degree days with no issues. I don’t drive much at night so haven’t tested that yet. I want to get one for rear view.

Very small and high rez dash cam with a nice phone app interface
I'm on a 4 star roll. I really like this. It works great and is pretty cool. It gets hotter than a Texas summer day. I'm sure that doesn't help with the life of the device. So far it works as expected and you can connect to WiFi to access the device for the first few minutes. I don't do full 24 hr coverage but like the crash detection.

Very Nice Dash Cam
This is a great dash cam, it works very well and was straight forward to install and interface the phone application with my iPhone. I decided to hardwire the camera to my vehicle and after a few hours of installing and hiding the wires the wire kit was defective, it had a bad power block. I ended up purchasing a second Van True wiring kit only to have it bad also, ended up going with the Rove hard wire kit and it worked flawless. I was able to hide all wires and it interfaced with the fuse block very nicely. The Van True 4K E1-Pro-Mini is a great dash cam unit, the video quality and the software are terrific.

Runs way too hot with screen and WiFi off. Freezes often for no apparent reason.
I have been a faithful fan of Garmin dash cams since they first released them. After my Mini 2 died, I thought I'd look at other brands, as having higher image quality for the price of Garmin's entry Mini 3 seemed like a worthwile upgrade. The E1 Pro is easy to install and configure, and the image quality is quite good. The connection to the iPhone app is spotty, but you can make it work, and kudos to Vantrue for not forcing you to create an account with them to use the app and camera. The major issue I found is the heat - it's close to dangerous to touch the camera when it's operating, and that was on my desk while setting it up. Once in the car under the sun, it got so hot I couldn't even operate the buttons, and then it started randomly freezing. I fail to see how a microSD card, no matter how "rugged", can survive the amount of heat this camera generates. What's surprising is the camera only draws 4W, so unless it's mining bitcoin while recording, it's hard to see how it can get so hot.A dash cam's main requirement is that it is 100% reliable - if it fails when you most need it, then it's worthless, regardless of cost, image quality, or features. Having seen the E1 Pro freeze during my very first drive inspires zero confidence. Will be returning it.

Nice Dash Came
I tried an imitation 4K dash cam with the Sony IMX675 Sensor and also a dash cam with the Sony IMX675 Sensor that states 2K. I feel the 2K was better than the imitation 4K at being able to read license plates and the was image clearer over all. I returned the 4K because of clarity and suction cup would not stay attached to the wind shield, returned the 2K randomly shutting down.Ordered the E1 Pro with true 4K the Sony IMX678 Sensor it’s noticeably better at being able to read license plates and better image over all. The E1 Po does run noticeable warmer than the other 2 but from what understand the Sony IMX678 Sensor runs hotter than the Sony IMX675 Sensor so I’m not too worried about that. They seem have a pretty good warranty if they stand behind it.I could not get the dash cam to stay on the windshield using the clear static film had to use the 3M tape but where it’s mounted that’s OK I will not be moving it.The App under GPS I would like to be able to turn on/off the recording of location and MPH.Firmware update: I download the latest firmware to my windows 11 PC and when tried to copy it from the PC to the memory card kept getting error and the copy on the memory card would not update. So I tried down loading it directly to the memory card then the E1 updated the firmware without issue. So far I like it. It’s nice and small tucked up in front of the rear view mirror. Another plus CPL filter included.

Great dash cam but gets too hot!
I wanted to try something new and saw this for sale at $125 ($150 without the $25 coupon) as of July 2025. Easy to install and nice small camera that records 4K quality. Functions are intuitive and menus aren't too bad to navigate. It takes a little bit to get used to as this unit is compact as it can be. Polarizer filter is an added bonus and works great to remove all those unwanted glares. Video quality is excellent for the unit and capability. The downside: The camera gets VERY HOT, almost burning hot. After installing it, I was navigating the menu and fiddling around the features, I noticed the unit gets extremely hot to touch. Not sure if this is acceptable or not, but I've never had a video camera that gets this hot during normal usage. The weather is cool up north too in a parkade, so it's not even hot outside. I can't imagine for those in hot regions using this camera. I don't expect this unit to last due to the heat issue, but definitely I'll stick with Viofo (I have 3 units) as my trusted brand for future video cam purchase. The 30 days return period has ended already for me.
