Easy to install Reduces the incoming tv signal.Humax box defaults to weak signal when in fact the problem is too strong a signal. It does reduce the strength bu trial n error on unit adjuster.

Using my BT / Humax DYR-T2100 set top box (STB) the Freeview HD channels would often macroblock and hence the picture would occasionally break up. This happens because the RF tuners can overload in some Humax products. With the attenuator inserted between the aerial input cable and the STB input connector the picture is perfect. Before fitting the attenuator BBC1 on channel 101 showed signal strength 92% which you would think was good. Using the attenuator I reduced the signal strength to 60% which actually improved the HD picture quality because there was no longer any macroblocking.

Simple and easy to use. Whilst it didn't solve my particular issue I could test this device on my TV and could prove it worked through the signal test option on my LG TV.It reduced the strength of the signal and this could be adjusted on the side to increase our decrease strength. I would recommend.

I didn't know that a too powerful signal could affect TV reception. I have bought a new humax freeview box and had problems with loss of signal. Programs would break up, pause and stutter. I spent a lot of time and money getting my aerial and mast head amplifier replaced to boost the signal but I still had problems. I spotted mention of using attenuators on a humax forum and thought at the price it was worth trying. I wish I'd bought one earlier. I plugged it in in line in the input cable from the aerial, looked at the signal strength meter in the set up menu of the freeview box and used a screwdriver to adjust the attenuator until the signal strength dropped to 95%. Since installing the attenuator I haven't had a single problem with signal loss.

I bought this item to see if it would solve a problem I have with my Panasonic HD TV recorder not picking up some channels. I had been told that if the signal coming in was too strong, the box gets overloaded and can't cope. Unfortunately this did not solve my problem (so I will now try a different aerial). It may be just a bad TV recorder. What I DID notice though is that this attenuator was doing what it should do, as, when turning the adjuster button with a screwdriver my TV was showing a definite change to the strength of the signal being received. The attenuator simply plugged into the aerial socket on the recorder and then the main aerial plugged in the other side, so took seconds to fit. For anyone needing to alter the strength of a signal from an aerial, this does just the job.

After we had a new freeview aerial fitted one of the TVs started pixelating and dropping out. Not what I was expecting with a brand new aerial but turns out that it is a little too good and the TV in question was actually struggling with the stronger signal. This fixed the problem without any fuss, just put in between the aerial cable and input on back of TV.

I have a Humax tuner which wouldn’t work on my aerial with or without the booster. I read that sometimes these tuners can be sensitive to too much signal from a booster. This little box connects to the aerial cable and lets you reduce the power of the signal by adjusting a small plastic screw. Fixed my Humax tuner issue immediately
