Hailo 9940-001 TP1 Work Platform, Silver

It may at first glance seem a lot to pay just to stick a ladder up a stairwell but I am very pleased I bought this. Used it numerous times during house renovations for filling and painting walls and coving and then to help hanging pictures up the stairs wall as well. Very sturdy. Easily portable. Extendable legs and length supports. Very handily little levelling bubble. Folds pretty flat to keep in the garage (albeit it’s fairly large- but then if it wasn’t it wouldn’t feel as safe to set a ladder on). There’s no way that I could have competed the decorating without this. Probably won’t get used that much but I can see it being loaned out to friends and family for their use from time to time. It just one of those things that every few years you may feel happy to own because you know it’s actually the only thing that will safely help you compete a job that without it is almost impossible.

I have a horrible very tall narrow stairwell and have been putting off painting it for years. I recently had the walls skimmed and the plasterer had to put planks across a bunch of ladders in some convoluted way which in my mind looked too dangerous for me to attempt - I'm not sure he was that pleased - and I'm not a big fan of heights at the best of times. Anyway, given that I was not prepared to do this and too cheap to get a painter in, I found this device and did some research (well a bit of googling) and took the plunge and purchased. I've now painted the ceiling and first coat on the walls and it has been fantastic. It is a well built and well thought through device, very simple to use and extremely sturdy. The main point is that it gives you a lot of confidence when using it. The spirit level is also a nice touch. What is strange is that the manual only points to using the platform with no more than a 4 rung ladder. I can't fathom this out as the overall maximum weight it can take is 300lbs and even though I'm a bit lardy, the weight of the ladders and me are nowhere near 300lbs. I can only assume that it was a request by the company's legal department or maybe I have got it completely wrong. There are couple of things you need to be careful about before purchasing a) that your stairs can take the width of the platform (75cm) and b) the ladders you are intending to use are not too big. On point b), the ladders I used have a stabiliser bar which is 80cm which fits fine - the platform is 90cm. All in all - I'm very pleased with the purchase. PS - I've added a picture with the ladder I used - this is the only picture my son took as he chuckled to himself while reading the house insurance policy but alas it wasn't required.

A great price of kit for DIY or professional. I’m a painter a decorator by trade and this has been do very useful. Very sturdy and feel safe when using it.

This is a fantastic piece of equipment but does not fit all stairs. I have used on 3 different stairwells so far and had to prop up with wood to get it level as cannot adjust to fit perfectly without. Having said this….it is a brilliant idea and works very well and I will continue to use it.

This staircase platform is brilliant. The front legs are adjusted separately, enabling it to be set up on stairs or uneven ground. Similarly at the back the two legs are adjustable separately. The platform is well made with thick plywood and a built in spirit level. I’ve used it for cutting my hedge on a slope, as per the photo, but will definitely be using it on my staircase as well

Very sturdy work platform that requires no assembly out of the box. Purchased help strip and redecorate my stairwell but I immediately hit a snag - even with the legs at full extension they were 60mm short of providing a horizontal platform! I don't consider my stairs to be to steep so this was a major disappointment. My solution will be to cut a 60mm deep timber section to screw onto the stair tread under the support legs - obviously creating holes in the tread that will then need filling..... Still, it's cheaper than a stairway combination step ladder so the job will get done in the end.

I love this. I bought it so I can hang pictures in the stairwell. I had pictures hung there before but really quite low and there was a lot of wasted space. It is quite heavy but I'm not strong and could manage it. Really easy to put up and in place and just as easy to take down again. It provides an extremely stable platform to work from. I definitely recommend.

Très pratique et suffisamment solide pour des travaux de peintures et plâtrages dans la cage d’escalier. Il est facile à déployer et ne prend pas beaucoup de place lors du rangement. Je conseille vivement cette plate-forme pour sécuriser les interventions dans les escaliers.

Very smart thing. Now I access the ceiling and the walls all the way up. Very easy to use, you adjust the legs on the platform very smoothly. Without this, the renovation of the stairwell would have been a nightmare.
