This adjustable Step2Bed was purchased as a gift for my Dad, who had recently gone through major gastrointestinal surgery, and was in need of a helpful method of gently stepping up to [and down from] his elevated bed. Prior to his release from medical care, I researched and compared the benefits of each every step offered through Amazon, and chose Step2Bed for several reasons:* The solid metal handrails, wide metal platform, and solid metal, rubber-covered leg bottoms, which would provide stability and reassurance to my Dad (that he would not easily lose his balance, and that the step would not slide on the hardwood flooring).* The varying height, sturdy handrails on either end of the wide platform meant that this platform could be placed on either side of Dad's bed, and he would not risk damaging the fragile skin of his legs, when swinging his legs onto [or off of] his bed, yet maintain a firm grasp on the taller handrail for support.* The adjustability of the platform height. My sister and I assembled the Step2Bed in very short order given the simple instructions (which were a breeze!), and when Dad returned home from the rehabilitation center, he asked that the platform be adjusted just slightly higher ~ We elevated the platform in less than five minutes!* The motion-sensing platform light. This was a big selling point for me, as Dad's safety is of great concern to our family. When Dad walks into his room, the motion-sensing light turns on, providing coverage of the wide platform and floor beyond. During Dad's healing process, this motion sensing light provides him with the assurance of being able to maneuver his walker into the room to reach the light switch without tripping. Further, the light is an invaluable safety asset, for the sudden, middle-of-the-night trip to the bathroom, and safely returning to his bed. For our Dad, as independent as he has always been, Step2Bed now provides him with a very safe means of maintaining his independence for the most basic of mobility issues: Getting in and out of bed safely. He will rid himself of the walker once he regains his strength, but I have absolutely no doubt that his Step2Bed is staying right by his bed for everyday / everynight use!Step2Bed is one of the best products I have found to fit this critical need, and I cannot speak highly enough as to it's thoughtful construction. My 80 year old husband has Parkinson’s and was no longer able to climb into our high bed. With this step he can safely get in and out of bed by himself. The step and rails are easy to reach and very sturdy. It’s very stable on the floor. It has a bright light that automatically lights up the step and the floor in front of the step when he gets near the step or when getting out of bed. I don’t have to worry when he uses the bathroom at night. I have also bought a bright motion sensor light for the bathroom so his pathway is lighted all the way. During the day I move the step around the other side of the bed where it is out of sight. I bought 4 furniture mover discs, one under each leg of the step. The step easily glides where I want it to go. When my husband uses the step at night, I remove the two front discs so that the step doesn’t move when he uses it. This step has been worth every penny! We’ve had it for more than two years now and it still looks new. We just replaced the batteries in the light for the third time so the batteries last a long time.

This is a great help getting into bed. The handrail makes it more secure. The light that turns on with motion is very nice.Good product.

It's very easy to assemble and seems very sturdy. You can make it so the high end is on either side, so it will work on either side of a bed (in our case). The motion light was very cheap and doesn't work reliably. The included safety strap did not work with our bed frame so we're having to be more careful using it.

I love this step! My 77 year old mom is 4’11” and has Parkinson’s, so Balance and depth perception can be an issue especially when your sleepy. She has fallen several times trying to get out of bed. She was using a step stool and it did not help because it was to small and too narrow and not sturdy. Even though we were met with some resistance from mom at first, since we bought this she has been able to step in and out of bed with ease! It’s her new best friend.I can’t speak to the assembly because my wife put it together. But I can say that the part you plant your feet on is very stable and secure and so are the bars on either side. And we were able to adjust it easily, so that the step is exactly the right amount of space between the floor and the bed ,for her height and her safety.An unintended consequence, she does however rely on the bar to pull herself up in bed and since the whole thing is only tied to the bed with Velcro the feet come up when she pulls on it to pull herself up in the bed. But that is only while in the bed. That part doesn’t bother me as much because it is still velcroed to the bed. It would just be nice if it didn’t move at all, but I know that is not what this was made for (bed rails do that). This device is made for stepping out of and getting back into bed with ease! And it does just that for my mom! The feet don’t move at all when she is stepping on to and off of the device. She also has thick carpet so that may help. Also the motion sensor night light is perfect!All in all it is a fantastic product! I bought it in December immediately after a fall, and mom has not fallen, while getting in and out of bed, since!!! Highly highly recommend! The person who created this was a genius!

This has been a game changer for my elderly (91 years old) mother--especially as a shorter person (4'11"). She previously had difficulty getting into and out of her bed and fell/slipped a few times; she now no longer has issues and is much more confident getting into and out of bed. Note: the light has started to dim a couple months in so I swapped out a battery or two and light is bright again. Best to buy one of those 36-packs or whatever of batteries so you don't have to worry about the light. Very easy to swap out a battery. Thank you for this great piece of equipment. (P.S. I weigh 200-210 lbs and it easily supported me, too, FYI.)
