These canning jars are making me wonder why I ever bothered with the Kerr/Ball “wide mouth” jars.- True wide mouth means there’s no “shoulder” at the top. I often freeze soup and stock in my jars, and no shoulder means no broken jars in the freezer if the food expands past the shoulder. It’s also much easier to pour out the contents, especially if they aren’t fully defrosted yet.- These hold more food. A liter is a “liter bit” more than a quart, as I learned in school. :) One liter of soup is a nice dinner for my family.- The two-part lid on these is easier to use. Instead of a ring, it’s a full lid that sits over the seal. (One reviewer commented that you don’t need to use the seal, but I don’t find that to be true. Liquid will pour right out if only the upper lid is used.)- The zero-waste packaging is great and there’s no mess of bubble wrap / styrofoam to deal with, just cardboard. (Though annoyingly, Amazon stuck the box inside a larger shopping box with air bubbles, which seemed pointless.)I’m giving away all my quart jars!

I have plenty of Kerr and Ball jars scattered around the house but I always favor a straight side all the way up to the rim and those fit the bill perfectly. What I like the most about 'Le Parfait' is the 110mm wide mouth which makes it so easy to not only add or remove anything but makes cleanup a breeze. I use mine for a sourdough starter and couldn't be happier. I also like the fact it comes with both a full lid and sealer. From now on I will only be purchasing 'Le Parfait.

I really liked this jar ... until the outside jar rim began to rust. The glass jar itself is great. I use it everyday to carry distilled water to work (I drink water - distilled water - all the time. I rarely drink any other liquid). It holds the amount of water I need. That is the main reason I bought this jar. HOWEVER, the big disappoint me to me is that it didn't take long before the rust from the lid began to rub into the crevices of the rim of the jar. The jar rim is now stained with rust! I have no idea why the company didn't put a better lid on the jar to keep it from rusting. My previous mason jar (from another company) didn't rust. How come THIS company has a jar lid that rusts? VERY disappointing. I'm probably being generous by giving it a 3 star rating. I'm only giving it a rating that high because I like it the fact that it holds the right amount of water for me (other mason jars either hold too little or hold too much). Otherwise, I would have given it a 1 star rating due to it causing rust...

I was so excited to receive it because it was perfect for my sourdough starter. I hand washed it and dried it thoroughly and yet the lid developed rust within a couple of weeks. I cleaned it off and hoped that will work but no - rust came back with a vengeance as you can see in the photo. I reached out to the seller but I never heard back.What a waste of money this purchase was. Never again

I came across these Le Parfait jars while searching for something for mixing and storing sourdough starter ingredients. Unlike the usual mason jars which are tall and skinny, these jars are shorter and wider. And they have straight sides. They work great for my purpose. I also bought the 750ml size. The same comments apply. Note: If you plan to buy them for canning, check out the documentation on their website first. They work a little differently.

Edits as Mar 2019: The company sent me 6 new jars about 6 weeks after this review, which I thought was great service. Still not sure what to think about freezing with them, but I love them for other uses so bumping this review up to 3. I bought a set of (4) 750ml Le Parfait wide mouth canning jars through Amazon in October. I love using the jars and they seemed very heavy-duty and quality. I have frozen broth in them before. Then this week I put broth in three jars to freeze, cooled them overnight in the refrigerator before freezing, and left room in the jar for the liquid to expand during the freezing process. Unfortunately, today I opened the freezer to discover that all three jars had broken. When I opened them, there was still 2cm of room left in the top, so they did not break because there was too much liquid. Not sure why this would have happened but would concerned about freezing with them in the future.

I've swapped out almost all of my plastic storage containers for glass (for storage of liquids), but realized I had missed the one for my homemade yogurt. I was using a large ricotta cheese container, so this is similarly sized. It will also be good for soups. Ordinary mason jars taper in at the lid, so I liked the way these taper out slightly -- easier to get it all out with a scraper. I debated getting such a large size knowing it would be heavy and require two of my little hands to not risk dropping it, but I decided to go for it and be careful. Kind of nice to have storage things that make good use of the top shelf of my fridge.

This is the second time I've ordered terrine jars from Le Parfait via Amazon. Both times they arrived well packaged and the jars are both beautiful and functional. I use them daily and I like that they take up less footprint in the fridge than traditional Tupperware style food storage containers. It would be nice if Le Parfait would sell the outer replacement lids, as they do rust and can become dented with time. I looked for the lids but have not found any American online dealers that sell them. I own three different sizes of the jars and plan to grow my collection.
