Basic but works as a deterrent
The door window alarm sensors are never going to substitute for a proper alarm system but for what they are, a deterrent or alert, they work fine. When we tried one out, with both of us in the same room, the noise from the alarm was loud indeed. Whether you would hear it if asleep upstairs and a downstairs window was opened is something else but any intruder would probably get an earful and, hopefully, dissuade them from going any further. They are quite a basic unit but seem to do the trick.I ordered the sensor alarms predominantly for our french doors and door to the garage from the kitchen but they could be installed anywhere there is a door or window that opens. Because they are turned on or off with a flick-switch it'll be a case of remembering to do it but it may become habit over time.

Loud enough to make a would-be burglar think twice I hope...
What you see in their photos is what you get. We have locks on all our windows, just wanted something a bit 'noisy' for the garage window, i.e. if someone tries to open it, they will get a loud shock, so, how loud is this.... we tried one with me in the lounge and hubby above me in his office, did I hear it? a little, but then he came down and demonstrated it 8 feet away, loud, yes, awful noise! It would certainly give a would-be burglar and shock, and I would think it would give a sleepwalker a heart attack (apparently some people put these on their front door to deter sleep walkers!). They look and feel cheap, but they do the job, just remember to switch them on. Price at the time of this review was £9 for 2.
