A great resource for a seamstress!
I have many of Gertie's books. This particular one walks you through the techniques of couture sewing and patterns. It is a great reference to have in your library to go back to time and time again. The pictures are amazing and helpful. And as always they patterns/projects she guides you through can be done by everyone. I also like the fact that she gives you space for your creativity in your projects while given you the resources to make them happen.

Excellent everything I expected!
Excellent book great 3 new patterns and a bunch of in depth backstory of the current Charm patterns out in print. I saw a few previous reviews stating there was a political agenda in this book. I’m wondering if they read the same book as I cannot see anything that could be considered political or woke propaganda. This is coming from a conservative Canadian ChristianLoving that they made the patterns digital that way. Don’t have to worry about ruining the official copy of the patterns. The only bad thing about the book is the poor editing with some minor issues involving a section with dummy text that the editor should have removed.

Great content
Loved the information about the history of vintage fashion and the three patterns included. A lot of love went into creating this book. Read it cover to cover and eager to get started on making the clothing!

Three PDF patterns for download included with the book
This is a step above Gertie's previous books, which people might be used to having paper patterns with. However giving purchase only passwords to access PDF downloads of the 3 patterns included has enabled a much wider size range to be produced and this is much more beneficial (as someone who loves taping together PDF patterns anyway ;-) ) For those who hate PDF patterns, you can always opt to have them printed with a pattern plotting company on A0 size paper. The historical background to her designs in particular makes this a fascinating read as well as a sewing techniques bible, especially for a vintage dressmaker myself who regularly presents mid century recreations on catwalks. I would not hesitate to recommend to others and would love more sewing books to be in this format and size inclusivity

Fall in love with Charmed Sewing Studio
If you love wintage sewing, mainly about the ‘50s you need this book. It will guide you through some very interesting design and patterns revived by the savvy and inspired experience of Gertie. Also, you will have access to three downloadable patterns, completed by sew along video and hacks. Two dresses and a a taylored jacket available from size 2 to 34 and with cup variations from A to H. But beware…once you enter Gertie’s world you will NEED to buy all the other books, patterns and Patreon subscription to access her magical fashion world!
