For Those Who Like To Groove: Essential Ray Parker Jr & Raydio: 40thAnniversary Collection

This collection is particularly good for collectors who want the comprehensive overview of Ray Parker and Raydio. While I have discovered some great stuff on this collection, I really bought it for the hits. This is, by far, the best chronology/remastering of Ray Parker's musical journey. I have purchased previous compilations and the recording quality is okay at best. This European import was produced with care and attention to sound detail. It is fantastic and will please audiophiles who recognize great sound when they hear it. Solid!!!

There are several exclusive edits and 12" versions here, and the sound is excellent - in many cases better and clearer than the recent re-issues on FunkyTown Grooves.There is a major typo in the booklet - there is a "second" track 11 listed for disc 2, "Woman Out Of Control", which is NOT on the disc.That song was the lead single from the album of the same name in the summer of 1983, and should have been included instead of the instrumental b-side After Midnite.The set is also missing the great 1980 single "Can't Keep From Cryin", although there are several b-sides and album cuts included instead.

This is a complete listing of music from Ray with Raydio on the first disc and his solo efforts on the second. Both had that smooth grooving, funky, romantic vibes that each was known for and that made me happy to have! Each disc brought back tunes that wasn't on the first disc and had my jumping and swaying and just won't leave my mind. To this date, JAMIE & THAT OLD SONG are STILL my favorites in their catalog! With his group, their voices fit perfectly and as solo, he brought the magic that led his group to the forefront and made even more magic! With this double disc release, Ray with and without the crew made an impact on music that just CAN'T EVER be forgotten!

Man this is a great collection from this great artist... I have most of these songs and a S.O.U.L. cd from 2011 But what sold me more is Mr. RAY PARKER and Ms.NATALIE COLE (the song OVER YOU.!!! ) man ive been wanting the song in my collection 4 ever... I have the cassette tape & now this great collection on CD ;with remixes Thank you.!!!

Great Collection. However. Ray lost his "soul' after he went solo (vs his group Raydio). On this collection disc 1 is 100% better than disc 2 (when he goes solo). Disc 2 is cheesey and popped out. Disc 1 is more soul, and has a plenty of songs. Still better than any other collection of hits from his/Raydio.

This CD brought back many a memory with the tunes from my youthful days. I had forgot how many hits that I enjoyed by Ray and his band.

Though this is a classic album, the number of tracks I loved were quite low in comparison to the numbers of tracks on the CDs. There were songs which in my view should have been on this album but are not such as Loving you, Perfect lovers and some more. Ray Parker Jr is only now getting the credit he deserves as an all round Musician. He was writing, composing and producing his own songs before Prince came on board.

This a fantastic 2 disc compilation of Ray Parker Jr's career with Raydio and as a solo artist. All the hits are included in this comprehensive collection. Every track is a solid gold classic.

Man this collection is amazing. This is some funky guitar jams from Ray (solo) and his band Raydio. I do like the Ghostbusters theme, but that is pop drivel compared to what he did for years before hand. He co-wrote many hits, was a session musician on many albums.You know the hits, but dig a bit deeper for the sweetness. Sample it and you will want it. This 2 disc collection will give that deeper look into this great musician.
